I'd been waken up by a tap on my shoulder.
- I remember hearing you saying you go to London, right? They just announced your flight. a stranger with an obvious German accent told me.
- Thank you. I whispered still sleepy.
I left the cold plastic chair and headed to the check in.
- And lady! the stranger called me. Your phone had been ringing almost continuously. You might want to check out who was so desperate to get in touch with you!
- Thanks, sir!
I turned my back to the nice stranger who wanted to help a lonely crying lady he'd been sitting next to while waiting for his flight.
I was still sleepy and accidentally bumped into a woman with her child.
- Sorry. I'm so sorry... I mumbled.
I stopped in the middle of the corridor and froze. Did I just speak?
I went back to the unknown woman and asked her:
- Can you hear me, madam?
- O' course I do, darlin'! Why?
- Nothing. I'm just... happy...
It was my turn. I was in front of the check in.
- Marie! I heard a familiar voice shouting my name.
I turned around instinctively, though I knew I shouldn't have.
Alex was sitting there with the saddest face I'd ever seen and with my letter in his hand. He came back. I told him not to! But I could speak now! Things were different then they were a couple hours ago when I left.
I was fighting with myself to reach a decision. It was my chance to go back to London and pick my life up from where I left it - the moment I went out on the balcony and started to talk to that complete stranger and smoke his cigars. But was it what I really wanted to do or was it just what my conscience was telling me to do?
The fact that Alex was standing in front of me meant either that he couldn't forgive himself letting me go, either the fact that, well, he loved me.
I should've died when I had the chance!
I started to run desperately towards him. He raised his arms and gave me the warmest embrace ever.
- Why did you come back? I asked.
- You, you... Marie... You!!! You s-s-speak!!!
- Don't change the subject or I go back! I threatened him with leaving.
- I meant it when I told you we could live happily ever after, mute or not! We can be together, Marie! Together forever! I love you!
- I love you, Alex!
I smashed my lips to his and he responded immediately. He put his hand behind my neck and rested his forehead against mine.
- I'm yours. Until the stars fall from the sky, until the rivers all run dry, until the end of time...
- Until mountains crumble to the sea, until two and two make three, until eternity...
- Damn it, girl! I can't live without you! That the freaking reason! I NEED YOU! Nothing can tear us apart, bear that in mind, love!==========================
Yeyyyy!!!! "Awwwww" time, guys!!! Hope you hadn't cried too much during the last chapters.
Omg, chapter 20, I've never thought I'd ever get this far! This is getting serious. I remember writing this fanfic was a challenge from my sister - we wanted to see who has more views and votes and... I win!!!
It's not a fanfic anymore, it's a story, it's something that changed my way of thinking, of judging facts... I got emotionally attached to the characters and to the story itself. I've never thought myself capable of something like that... It's an universe where I can control other people's reactions. It's amazing, isn't it?!Btw, thank you so so much for reading my story, for all your support, nice words and constant encouragement! You're the best!
Thank you @arrrrabella @kyra_the_killjoy @Amonkeys_505 for being some amazing active readers!!!Have a great day, my little monkeys! ^.^
