Getting Things Ready

  When he finally pulled away for air he saw my tear-soaked face and looked at my dripping hand, I felt him leave and I pulled my arms around myself as I heard the tap was running again, I jumped when I felt him reach for my hand and I tried to bring my arms closer to my body, he sighed "Do you want me to wash your hand or not?" I opened my eyes to see his guilt ridden face and I slowly reached out for him to take it and resume like nothing ever happened.

When we came back to the kitchen we saw that all the broken dishes were cleaned up and they had resumed cooking their bacon and eggs until they saw us "Hey, how is it?" my brother asked "It was just a scratch" he looked at me skeptically "That was a lot of blood for a scratch" I dismissed him as I opened the cupboard reached up to get a bandage, earning a nervous cough from Delirious as he saw the cloths reveal more as I stretched, I wrapped up my hand, ignoring him and went to get changed.

I came back down the stairs to see that the others had started eating without me so I sat down at an untouched plate of food and dug in while I listened to the conversation "So what are we going to do for tomorrow?" asked Tyler as he looked around the table "What's tomorrow?" I inquired back "We're going to see Evan in the hospital, dumbass" my eyes widened as I remembered "We should at least get something better than a 'get well' card" Luke joked and we all agreed.

After a while we had discussed what we were going to do to surprize Evan and much to the displeasure of Delirious, Luke and I were tasked with going out shopping for supplies while him and Tyler went to arrange everything with the rest of the group "Thanks Luke but John is going to hate this" I told him as we got into the car "He won't touch me, besides it looked like you could use a break from him" I scoffed at his comment "Not long enough" Luke looked kind of hurt at this "He means well, he just doesn't know how to express himself or to let go" I felt kind of guilty at that but chose to not let it affect my mood and instead I concentrated on Evan.

We got to the mall and headed into the shop targeted as our destination, laughing and joking as we went like old times, we bought all the items we needed and while one was being prepared we got lunch together, we sat and ate while talking about various topics like some new games, cool music and about how we'd been since we last met until we ran out of things to talk about and I brought up the topic that had been bugging me for a long time "Luke?" he looked up at me curious as to why I was suddenly so serious.

"I think John is going to hurt Evan, badly" I put lightly, he looked at me trying to think of a response except "Why would he do that?" I realized he doesn't know "Because he's the one that put him there" Luke's eyes grew wide but he was still doubtful "When we were in the woods and Evan and I got separated from the group he confessed that he loved me and John found us while we were making-out, he got angry and attacked Evan and I thought he killed him, he used my petrified state to pretend that it was someone else who attacked us and he scared them away without me being able to say otherwise"

He looked at me wide eyed and his jaw hung open until he put it together in his head and asked "Do you love Evan?" I didn't have to think before I answered "Yes, I've liked him for a long time but didn't have the guts to say anything" he nodded and stood "Well we better make sure Evan has fun tomorrow" I followed him and we picked up the last item before heading back to the house.

We got back before the other two so we put away the supplies and put on a game of split-screen COD BO3 Zombies and were having fun trying to get past the first few waves, Tyler and Delirious came through the door to hear us yelling "Luke, revive me!" his character was holding two windows while I was stuck in a corner from protecting the door "Hold on I'm coming!" his character threw down a monkey before running in my direction only for him to get stuck in the same corner causing us both to die.

"Sounds like you two are having fun" Delirious glared at Luke and I as we were laughing over our own failure "Did you guys get the gear?" asked Tyler coming up behind him, we calmed down before answering "Yeah, we got it" I could feel Delirious' glare burn holes in my skin and Luke's "Good, the guys are all caught up on the plan" Tyler went serious "Now, let me show you how a pro plays zombies" we handed him a controller and we restarted the map, we played videogames for a good amount of hours but we eventually had to get to bed if we wanted to get up early enough for tomorrow.
