Chapter Thirteen - Struck Down Before Our Prime

We all gathered in the church, time to come up with our game plan. There was no way we were going to let this happen, at least not without a fight. I looked at Party, he hasn't slept but I don't think any of us have. He was pacing our room all night trying to think of something.

As soon as everyone showed up I noticed some things. First Deathwish was close to Unbroken, leaving Dramatic standing off on his own like an outcast. Next Wretched looked like he was empty, he showed no emotion on his face even though his partner may die tonight. Next was Skye, she seemed eager and excited about something.

Harlequin spoke up first, "so what are we planning on doing?"

Authority, "we have to use our abilities. We can stop them just like we stopped BLI." A slight laugh came from Wretched.

Sparkling got angry, "what's so funny? Your partner is in trouble, and you're standing there with a smirk on your face." She had moved towards him and smacked him as hard as she could.

"I wouldn't do that again." Wretched walked out of the church and into the desert. What was going on? I ran after him, Party tries stopping me but I yank free.

"Wretched, wait!" He moves fast, he's ready quite a distance away from the church. Luckily he stops walking and waits for me to catch up. "Hey, what's wrong with you? Don't you care about what happens to Shattered?"

"Of course I care! Don't ever say I don't care about her!"

"Why are you losing it on everyone? We're a family and need to stick together. We need everyone to help get these vamp assholes."

Wretched closed his eyes, he was thinking about something. I really wish I knew what was going on in his head. Then an idea came to my head, "please Wretched, come back with me."

He agreed to, now to talk to Authority, if I couldn't see what was going on inside his head I would know what his future with Shattered would be.

War Tiger just finished talking to me, she's worried about Wretched and what he has plan. She thinks he has some other motive going on, so I'm suppose to touch him and see his future. I'm scared, he basically threatened Sparkling.

I saw him head for his bedroom, figured it was now or never. "Hey Wretched! I was wondering if..." As I continued to talk I slowly brought my hand up and grabbed his wrist. His past and future shot through my mind leaving me breathless. "Oh my God."

Wretched grew angry, shutting the door and locking it. "Well Authority, did you like what you saw? That wasn't very smart, but you Killjoys are not very smart."

"Wretched, what you have planned, it's not right."

"I'm going to get Shattered back by any means, no one will stop me. Now keep quiet and no one has to get hurt, except of course those vampire parasites." He unlocked the door and motioned for me to leave.

Tiger found me, "hey did you get a chance to see his future?"

"No, wouldn't let me near him. We should forget about it, need to think about getting Phoenix and Shattered back." We started walking back to the group, things were going to end bad.

"Tonight is the night my sweet lovely. Are you as excited as I am?" Aleck's hand was on my leg, "soon you will be mine and you will be the most powerful vampire."

"Get your hand off me!"

"Temper, temper. You need to relax, maybe I can help you with that." He started to move his had higher.

"Don't fucking touch her!" Phoenix yelled out, I could hear his chains as he struggled. Aleck moved from me to him, "you're such a pathetic vampire, and tonight you will die."

I turned my head to see Aleck beating Phoenix until he was satisfied. "You're the one who will die tonight, you and that little bitch of yours. I will make your partner scream and she will beg for death."

Please, there has to be a way for this to end with us safely back with our group. Soon I started to pray, I closed my eyes and prayed inside my head to Dr. D.

'Dad? If you can hear my prayers please give me strength. I'm so sorry, I have disappointed you as a Killjoy and a daughter. Tonight, please watch over the others, just make sure they stay safe. I love you dad, you kept me safe and all I ask is to do it one more time.'

Now I waited for tonight, the sun will go down and the event will begin. I didn't want to turn, the group is brave and smart, they can find a way to save us. I wouldn't be going out without a fight either, I will be using my ability. Give my family a chance as the vamps are busy in pain.

"Alright, so we use your abilities. I wish we had practice them more but you guys have done this before. The eight of you work together, use each other for support." Party ran his hand through his red hair.

I found this the perfect moment to mention what I've learned. "It's not eight, it's ten. Shattered will use her ability when she can and I can fight with my ability."

Unbroken looked at me like I was crazy, "we don't know what your ability is, it's dangerous without some practice. Trust us, we almost lost one of our own." Tiger looked at her feet, something must have happened.

"I've learned I have been practicing, can I at least show you."

"I want to see!" Deathwish ran over to me with excitement.

"Okay, stand back everyone." I closed my eyes and lifted my arms. Based on the gasps and awws I knew it was working. So I opened my eyes to see balls of flames in the palms of my hands. Now to really show what I have learned.

"Grab them, it's time to go!" Well here we go, they put me to my knees. Next they brought Shattered next to me, I broke free from the vamps grasp and pushed the ones away from Shattered. I knew we weren't escaping but that's not why I did it.

I quickly wrapped my arms around Shattered and gave her a hug, this may be the last chance and I wanted her to know I was by her side. Before they could rip me from her I whispered something in her ear.

"Don't be scared, we'll get out of this I promise you." Then I kissed her cheek, the vampires started to punch and kick me but it was worth it. Soon I will be with my Skye Blu and I couldn't wait to pick her up in my arms.

My hands were tied between my back and a gag in my mouth, they did the same with Shattered. Aleck came back, an evil smile on his face. He kneeled down by Shattered, "hello my lovely. Are you ready for tonight?" Then he pressed his hand on her stomach again. I mumble something under the gag, he removed it and asked what I said.

"I said, why do you keep touching her stomach?"

His smile grew and it creeped me out, "Shattered? Do you know why?" She shook her head no, "well I will tell you both. Shattered..." His hand once again on her stomach, "you're with child."

Her eyes widen and she looked down at her stomach. Tears filled her eyes, and that's when I decided no matter what I will protect her and her unborn baby. Before they put the at back on, "Shattered I'll protect you." Aleck slapped me hard, knocking me out.
