It's not all Cuddles

Peridot and Lapis were on the couch cuddling and being cute while watching Camp Pining Hearts. 

"Commercial break!" Peridot shouted as she leaned into Lapis to kiss her. Lapis kissed her but was acting strange. Peridot didn't notice it at first but when she did she grew a strong concern for her new girlfriend. Girlfriend, girlfriend. She was her girlfriend! Wow. Lapis let out a sigh as she looked down.

"What's wrong?" Peridot said. Reluctantly Lapis replied.

"I want to tell you about... Jasper." 

"Oh. What about Jasper?" Peridot didn't know how to reply. What happened between those two?

"Okay it all started towards the end of freshman year. I hooked up with Jasper and we stuck with each other." Lapis started to get tense and Peridot held her closer.

"It was all fine for a while, then the middle of sophomore year rolled around I wasn't feeling what I felt between us before anymore. I told her so and she grew aggressive and I couldn't leave her. It was like that througout high school. I was trapped in such a toxic relationship. She ruined me. She made me do things I would never do! She did awful things to me!" Lapis had tears in her eyes. Peridot help her tight trying to comfort Lapis. 

"She did so much until one day maybe a year ago or so when I had enough! I had just bought this house and it hadn't even been  a month. She wanted one thing. I did not want that one thing. I finally had enough and told her to get out. She freaked out and punched a hole in the wall of her room - I mean your room." Tears ran down Lapis' face. Peridot didn't know how to handle this. She hugged Lapis' and didn't let go.

"Look at me I'm a wreck! I have ptsd, I am on antidepressants, and I'm a bloody mess!" Lapis nervously laughed at herself and continued crying. Peridot turn Lapis so they were looking eye to eye.

"It's okay! Just try and forget about her!" Peridot said

"It's not that easy... It's just. Complicated." Lapis said quickly.

"How could it be?" 

"Every single day I am reminded of her! I act like I don't care but it's slowly deteriorating me. Every awful thing she did haunts me! I'm living my worst nightmare, Peridot!"

Peridot was silent. They looked each other in the eyes. Lapis broke down in tears. She had never told anyone. Peridot got her to look in her eyes once more.

"I'll love you no matter what. No matter how you feel I will be here for you!"

Lapis fell into Peridots arms and started crying harder.

"Now come on! The commercial break is over and we have a box of thin mints to eat."

Lapis looked at Peridot and at the thin mints. She giggled and said -

"I guess it was mint to be!"

"Come on!" Peridot laughed hysterically pushed Lapis. "Sure is mint to be!" 

They exchanged adoring smiles and began to watch the show.
