I was in my room. Reading on my bed with my iPod docked into the iHome. I was waiting eagerly for Reid to come home. He should be home in about 2 hours. I have an inkling of what the surprise might be. Well the Cartier box was a dead giveaway. I was more than ready to give him the answer. I was thinking about our future. How fun it would be to go Yale together. To be Mrs Kauffmann. My thoughts were interrupted by Liam's voice shouting for me.

"PASHAAA!! COME HERE!"

"WHYY?" I asked. I didn’t want to move. I was comfortable where I was.

"JUST COME HERE WILL YOU!!"

I sighed and got up.

"What is it Liam?"

"Let's go to the mall. We haven’t talked for a while now."

"We talk everyday Liam," I protested.

"Yeah, but Reid is coming home today so that means I won't be able to spend time with you anymore."

"Fine." I could go shop for something to wear tonight to commemorate our engagement. "Sure let's go then. You're driving," I said while throwing him the Mini's keys.

We had shopped a bit and were both famished. We went to the food court to grab some food. I was enjoying my hotdog and was having a pleasant conversation with Liam when I heard Kauffmann Holdings being mentioned in the background. It was coming from the big TV the food court had in the corner.  I stopped talking to have a listen to what it was saying.

'No no no. This cannot be happening. NO NO NO.'  I was getting hysterical.

The heir of Kauffmann Holdings, Reid Kauffmann has been involved in an air crash. He was believed to have flown from Hamburg. He is alive however is in critical condition. He is currently -'

I stopped listening after that. I was shaking, trembling. I heard nothing. I heard someone calling my name.

"Pasha? Pasha." It was Liam, hugging me. "Come on, let's go. We should go now."

I froze in place. My whole body felt numb. My brain cannot process what was going on. I felt Liam carry me out of the food court. I heard him making a few calls. He had called mum to ask for the jet to be ready. He called Gordon too. Next thing I knew, both Liam and I were in flight. I have no idea where to. I just kept thinking of Reid.

'Why? Why me? Why him? Why us? Why now?'

We landed after 5 hours of flying. Liam has not let go of my hand. He carried me to the car. We were now on the road. It was only when the car stopped in front of a hospital. I started crying. Liam hugged me, he was saying things to me but I couldn’t make out what he was saying. I was too distraught. He carried me to a room. There were other people there. I couldn’t see who they were. They were all a blur.

Then, I saw Reid. He was hooked up to all these wires. Liam put me down slowly on the chair that was next to the bed. I wiped my tears away with the back of my hand. I saw his badly battered face and body. I just broke down. I was slumped on the floor, sobbing wildly. Liam pulled the chair from behind me and hugged me.

"It's going to be okay Pasha," he tried to comfort me. It didn’t work.

'Why? This cannot be real. I just spoke to him this morning. He sounded fine. Now, he can't even breathe on his own. Why him? NO, why why why?'

It has been 2 days now. I was sleeping beside a motionless Reid. My eyes were puffy and red. The monitor was beeping at a steady state. It somehow was therapeutic for me. Knowing that Reid is still alive.
