Lucas was still asleep. I slowly crept out of bed. Got dressed quietly and closed the bedroom door as gently as possible.
I started the TT's engine. I backed it out of the garage and started driving.
I kneeled in front of his tombstone. Tears were already forming in my eyes.
"Hi baby," this was so much harder than I thought it would be.
"Hi baby… I have missed you so much… there hasn’t been a single day that passes by without me thinking of you…he asked me to marry him Reid… I hope you are okay with it… because I said yes… he made me smile again… he made me better… I was really depressed when you left…he supported me through it… just like how you supported me through everything before… he is not replacing you Reid… no one can… I will always love you Reid… I remember what you said to me, that you were just a chapter in my book and that your chapter has ended… well, it is one hell of a chapter and even with a new chapter beginning, I will keep reading your chapter…I love you Reid…always.."
I stayed there kneeling and weeping. I really missed Reid. Even with Luke now, once a person you have loved so dearly is gone, you can always feel the emptiness of space, the void that the person has left in your life. I felt an arm on my shoulder. It was Mary.
She has been put in charge of tending to his tombstone. She had fresh flowers in her other hand and she handed them to me. I took them and went closer to Reid.
I took out the old flowers and replaced them with the new ones.
"I love you Reid," I whispered as I got up and walked with Mary to my car.
I stayed in my car for quite some time. I need to move on from this but I know I need to cry this out. After half an hour, I started the engine and drove home.
Luke was already waiting for me on the couch. He had both his phone and mine in each hand. He looked like he was about to interrogate me, which I am sure he was going to but he stopped when he saw my face.
He chucked the phones on the coffee table, got up and hugged me.
"Pasha sweetheart, are you alright?" he asked gently.
I nodded and welcomed his open arms. "I went to see Reid, that's all."
He kissed my forehead and looked at me, "It's okay Pasha, I am here. It's okay."
"Don’t be mad, don’t think that I love you less because I still miss him," I sobbed.
"It never crossed my mind babe. I understand… It's okay," he assured me. "Come on, go wash your face now, I'll make you some breakfast k."
I shuffled along to the bathroom and splashed my face with cold water. I closed my eyes for a moment and in that moment, I saw Reid. He was smiling at me.
'It's okay Pasha. I am glad that you finally can smile again. I am sorry for leaving so soon. I love you Pasha, but it is time. A time for you and Luke. He came to see me yesterday. I trust that he would lay his life on the line for you and that he would bring you happiness. I love you Pasha.'
I opened my eyes and he was gone. I closed my eyes again, hoping that he would reappear but he didn’t. I did this a few more times. Still nothing.
I went outside to see Luke in an apron plating up some French toast.
"Did you go see Reid yesterday?" I asked, I had to know if what happened in the bathroom happened or I was seriously going insane.
He look startled.
"How did you know?" he asked.
"Reid told me."
"What?"
"Reid told me, just now in the bathroom."
"What did he say?"
"He said he trusted you based on what you said to him yesterday."
"Good guy Kauffmann, always helping out a brother even from the beyond." Luke said.
Pasha was silent.
"What did you say to him Luke?"
"That is between me and him. I made him a promise that's all," Luke replied.
"Eat!" Luke said while pushing the plate towards her.
She smiled.
"Thanks Luke. For everything. You really are my knight in shining Armani."
