What time does your flight land?

Well, I leave here at five-thirty, and I have a 45 minute flight to Minneapolis. I have a three hour layover there then it’s a seven and half hour flight. With the six hour time change, I believe that puts me in London at noon your time.

I will be there to pick you up at the airport. I’m so excited to see you, it’s been almost nine months.

Me too, I will see you in like 14 hours.

I hung up my phone and I was sitting in the airport waiting to broad the plane that would take me to London. I was going to visit my cousin Katie for a week during my Spring Break. I hadn’t seen her since she decided she wanted to study her last year of college abroad. I don’t know why she decided on London, if it was me I would have chosen someplace warmer like Australia or something. After living in North Dakota for the first twenty some years of your life, you would think to live in a place that had nice weather. And when thinking of London, that's not particularly the thought that came to mind. But she said London was great because of all the history there and since she was a history major that’s where she went.

She was only six months older than me and we lived only two miles away from each other our whole lives, so her being on the other side of the world was horrible. I was missing her like crazy. She had three older brothers and I had one older brother so we would always hang out together to get away from them, so we were practically sisters.

“Flight 1124 to Minneapolis is now boarding.” A lady over the loudspeaker rang through the terminal. I picked up my carrying on bag and heading towards the gate.

After landing in Minneapolis, I decided I needed to pass the three hour wait so I bought a bite to eat at, grabbed my book and went to find a quiet corner while I waited for my flight. After waiting for awhile, they loaded us onto the plane for the seven and half hour flight across the ocean. I was quite glad I booked my flight for night. There was hardly anybody on the flight and it allowed me to sleep most of the flight until they woke me up to serve us breakfast. We had three more hours to go but I was too excited to fall back asleep so I decided to listen to my music and read my book some more.

As the plane descended into London I was basically bouncing in my seat. Once the plane stopped moving and everyone unbuckled their seatbelts, we slowly made our way into the airport. I made my way to baggage claim to find my bags. As I was waiting for them to come around, I felt someone grab my butt. I was about to turn around and yell at the person when I heard her laugh.

“Katie!!” I squealed.

“I can’t believe you're finally here, I missed you so much.”

“I know, I missed you too. I so glad that I can get away from school for a little bit.” I pulled her into a tight hug and embraced her.

“It’s amazing to be spending my spring break in London with my favorite cousin.” I spotted my bag coming around on the conveyer belt and quickly grabbed it. We made our way out to the parking lot to find Katie’s car and head to her apartment.

“Are you hungry? I know you probably ate on the plane and everything but it is lunch time here and I haven’t eaten yet.” Katie asked me.

“You know me, I’m always up for eating something.” I replied excitedly.

“Where do you want to eat?”

“I don’t know, you’re the one that lives here, not me. How am I supposed to know where to eat? You pick someplace, as long as it’s good.”

I lifted my bag into Katie’s car and walked around to get in. “Ah, that’s the wrong side of the car. This is Europe, their car’s are backwards.” Katie laughed at me.

“Shit, I knew that. Sorry.” I quickly went around the front of the car to get in the proper side.

“It’s alright, it took me awhile to get used to it too.

We drove for about 15 minutes, before we pulled up to tiny café on the corner of the street. I climbed out of the car and followed Katie in. I decided to order something little since I had eaten on the plane not long ago.

We sat in silence and ate our food until Katie asked, “So how it North Dakota treating you?”

“Like crap. As I was leaving another blizzard was coming in. I got a text from my mom when I landed and she said they had to cancel schools again. That's the sixth time this year schools was shut down for snow.” I said disgusted.

“It’s March. Isn’t it suppose to be getting nicer not having a blizzard?”

“I know that, but clearly Mother Nature didn't get that notice.”

“That is one thing that I don’t miss about living in North Dakota.” She said laughing. “What about college, how is that?”

“School is going okay. I’m just not sure if I want to continue on though. I don’t know if I want to be a vet anymore.”

"Really? You've talked about being a vet since you were thirteen, now you want to change your mind?"

"I mine I would still love to be a vet, I just don't know if I want to do five more years of school."

"I know what you mean." She gave me an apologetic look.

After we finished eating, we head back to Katie’s car to finally get to her apartment. It was only about 10 more minutes when we pulled up to what I assumed to be her place. “Well this place is nice,” I told her.

“It’s nice enough, nothing spectacular but its a little small. For just me thought I guess it's big enough.” She replied opening the door. I set my things down and she began to show me around her apartment. “Here’s your room, I will let you unpack your things and then we can do something.”

“I was thinking about showering and then taking a nap. I haven’t showed since yesterday and I have been on a plane all day. I feel disgusting and I didn’t get much sleep on the airplane because I was too excited to see you.”

“That’s fine, I know how much you like your sleep. We'll just do something after you wake up. The bathroom is down the hall.” She replied as she shut the door. I grabbed the things I needed to shower and head to the bathroom.

After a nice hot shower, I finally felt clean and headed back to my room. I put on a comfy pair of sweats and a t-shirt and curled up on the bed and pulled the blankets up to my nose. After getting comfy, I quickly drifted off to sleep and woke some time later to realize I had slept for four hour and it was already seven o’clock.

“Good to see you sleepy head. What do you want to do now?” Katie questioned when I walked into the living room. “We could go out to the club or do something before it gets too dark.”

“Nah, can we just stay in tonight and hang out like we use to?” I asked her.

“Sure, I will order us a pizza and we can sit out on the balcony and enjoy the nice weather we're having.” She said happily.

After the pizza came, we went outside to enjoy it and looked at the amazing view she had of London. We sat outside and talked for what felt like hours. Talking about stories from when we were kids and all the mischief we got into in high school. Telling each other about how our year had been since she moved and what we had missed in each others lives since. She finally said that she had to go to bed since it was late and that the next day we would go sightseeing. I went to my room and laid down on the bed attempting to fall asleep even though it was only eight at home and I had already taking a nap that day. I was there for a couple of hours but sleep still hadn’t come. "Man this time difference is going to suck." I said to myself.
