Chapter 14
Aiden
My... "thing" with Alina is starting to get worse. I don't even know what to call it anymore. An obsession? No, too...well...stalkerish. A fascination? No, too...childish.
What am I supposed to do? Walk up to her and tell her, "Oh, hey, don't take this the wrong way, but I've sort of developed an unhealthy fascinating obsession with you"?
Ha. Ha. I think not.
But, honestly, this is starting to become a serious problem. It's beginning to interfere with my life, man.
I can't sleep. Why? Freaking, she haunts me in my dreams too! It's ridiculous! Last night's dream? Yeah, it was bad.
It was worse than bad. It was hideously inappropriate. River would definitely castrate me if he ever finds out.
What's worse is that I can't even be anywhere within a ten feet radius of her without stammering or fidgeting or turning into a complete klutz. This morning, I face planted into a wall. Yes, a wall. This girl is seriously going to be the death of me.
She's also interfering with my coherent thoughts (the few that I actually have). I mean, yesterday, I let her take the win for the girls. Yeah, that's right. I purposefully missed the fucking hoop so that she could have won for the girls' basketball team.
I'm an idiot. I know. I don't know what I was thinking, but obviously, it wasn't about the wrath that Coach would give me after practice. Coach gave me an earful about losing it, afterward, whilst we were all in the locker room, and it sort of caused me to get slightly annoyed, both at Alina-for making me feel weird things around her-and at myself-for allowing those weird feelings to get to me.
Thing is, Alina's got a heart of gold. Coach let everyone leave, but me, and chewed me out for a good thirty minutes, maybe more. I expected to be the last one to leave, but I walked out and BOOM. There's Alina, leaning against the side of the building, with her eyes shut (she fell asleep), waiting for me. I know for a fact that River was going to come and pick her up, so there wasn't any reason for her to stay.
Just like that, all my anger and annoyance that was directed at her, changed direction and spiraled back to me.
It's starting to become a hassle, now, really. If I can't be ten feet away from her without doing something ridiculously embarrassing, how am I supposed to walk down the aisle and dance with her in a short few minutes?
Anyways, being the gentleman that I am, I carried to my car and, when I parked in my driveway, carried her up to her room (because, apparently, Alina Raft is not a light sleeper). I'll admit, it was pretty weird, but I think that may have just been because of my raging hormones.
Point is, today is going to suck.
"Alright," Noah says, fixing up his tie, before glancing at each of us, also pulling me out of my thoughts. "Any of you little assholes fuck something up and I will fuck you up, do you get me?"
Tyler groans and throws his head back. "Loud and clear, bro. We just want this day to be over with." Noah shoots him a scalding look, so Tyler rolls his eyes. "Not like that. It's just that the quicker this is over, the less chance there is of one of us screwing something up and causing you to go psycho on us and chop off our balls." As an afterthought, he adds, in a very Tyler-ish way, "And possibly mount them on your wall. Our balls, I mean."
Jeremy loses it, and bursts out laughing, which in turn, causes the rest of us to erupt in laughter, spare Noah. Noah's too much in his freaking out mode to comprehend anything.
