Chapter 6
Aiden
So far, the girls had a total of six wins, while River and I had two. We were failing miserably with this whole dare thing, and I don’t know why it proved to be so difficult for us.
Em was now in on this whole thing, and she helped out in giving dares. Knowing Em, she’d pick ones that would be explicitly easy as pie for the girls but difficult as hell for River and I. This would be why the two of us went to both Tyler and Jeremy for assistance in this whole thing. While Tyler may not have a younger sister-or a sister at all in general-Jeremy did, so Jeremy could sympathize with us.
Unfortunately, Jeremy seems to think that we’re both idiots and that we should let them do whatever the hell that they want to, seeing as one’s sixteen and the other is fifteen, and they’re old enough to make their own decisions.
In response, I had chucked my basketball at his face.
“Okay, then,” Tyler loudly says. “What’s the dare this time?”
I groan and River grumpily says, “To get a detention and then get away with not going to it.”
Jeremy laughs. “There’s no way you’re going to win this one.”
“Yeah,” Tyler agrees. “You have to have that kind of sweet, innocent, adorable little face. And a little bit of sympathy.”
“Alina’s going to be a big help with this one,” Jeremy adds. “She’s going to get Callaway to help. He’s kind of been creepy on her lately, have you noticed it?”
River nods his head, immediately getting pissed off, but I shove him from his head. “It’s not what you think, you dolt. Callaway used to have a daughter-by now, she would be five-but she died like, three years ago in a car accident. Considering that Alina was in a bad car accident and the fact that Alina for some reason seems to be the spitting image of Callaway’s late daughter, Callaway goes off acting like Alina is his daughter. It’s why he’s so keen on helping her out.”
All three of them stare at me.
“I mean…so I’ve heard, you know,” I nonchalantly add on.
“How the eff did you know that?” River asks.
I shrug loosely. “I may or may not have sneaked into school grounds a couple days ago and went through his file after noticing how creepy he’s been on your sister.”
And then they burst out laughing at me.
“You little conniving arse,” Jeremy guffaws, “What the bloody hell did you do? Bribe the lady in the main office for an extra key to the school?”
“Possibly,” I mumble. “But that’s not the point. We went completely off topic. We need your help getting this dare done.”
“Hey, guys!” Sorita gushes, popping in from my bedroom door.
I narrow my eyes on her. “Aren’t you supposed to be in detention?”
“Nope!” she brightly says. “Alina got us off the hook! We win,” she says, giving me a dazzling smile. “Good luck, you’re going to need it.”
“Wait!” River shouts. “How’d you do it?”
Sorita glances at Alina, who shrugs and gestures for her to walk in.
