Chapter 16
Aiden
"Hey, Alina, do you think I can borrow that super cute purple-holy shit!"
Poor Alina falls right out of the bed from Sorita's scream. It takes a second for me to realize that Sorita is freaking out because I'm here. In Alina's room. In her bed.
"Oh...uh...hi."
Sorita's speechless. She's just standing there, staring with her mouth open, and Alina's rubbing her head, wincing.
"I can explain," I say, immediately jumping out of the bed. "It's not what it looks like."
Sorita just runs away, with her phone in her hand, and that's when I know that she's going to tell all her friends. Hell, she might even go as far as settling her differences with Jeremy to let him know what she thinks she saw.
Not good.
Alina shoots me a disapproving look before shoving me out of her room and slamming her door shut. Ouch. I think she's mad at me.
Damn.
My phone suddenly starts ringing and I wince lightly as I see that it's none other than Jeremy. "Uh. Hey, Jer, what's up?" I calmly ask.
"What's up? You're asking me what's up?" he bellows. "Ree just called me and told me she found you in Alina's bed! Why don't you tell me what's up?!"
"I-I-I can explain."
"I'm sure you can. Let's start with yesterday," he says, sounding ticked off.
There's silence between the two of us for a good solid minute. "Can't we talk about this later? I still have to shower."
"It's only five, you have tons of time. Oi, open your door, mate."
"What?"
"I hopped in my car the second Sorita finished telling me what she saw, so I'm here. Open up."
He hangs up after that, and I seriously consider not going to open the door. Problem is, Sorita opens the door. "He's upstairs," I hear her say.
"Right, thanks." He thunders up the stairs and sees me staring at him like a deer caught in headlights. After dragging me into my room, he shoves me lightly. "Spill."
"Uh..."
"Okay, yesterday. Talk about what happened yesterday."
I instantly perk up. "That, I can explain! See, Alina wanted to spy on you and my sister and find out how things were going and she asked if I wanted to come with so I agreed and we were hiding in the bushes but then Molly came and we didn't want to get caught, so we ended up just lying down and crossing our fingers that Molly wouldn't see us."
Jeremy doesn't say anything, but I can tell that he's debating whether or not this is actually a reliable source of information. "Okay," he finally says. "And why did you sleep with Alina?"
I throw myself at him, knocking the two of us to the ground. "Shhh! Don't say that! It's not like that! If Alina hears you say that, she'll never talk to me again."
Jeremy grins wickedly. "Mate, she never spoke to you in the first place." I look at him with a confused glance, wondering what the heck he was talking about, but then it dawns on me that he meant that Alina hadn't technically ever actually spoken to me or anyone here for that matter. "Okay, rephrase: why were you sleeping in the same bed as Alina?"
I merely shrug. Not because I don't want to answer, but because I, myself, don't really even know. It was late and I was tired and I just wanted to hug Alina and I don't know.
