Zoe's POV:

The feeling of sticks poking into my back woke me up, but I keep my eyes closed. I'm still tired and I don't feel like facing yet another miserable day. I shift a little and sigh, feeling comfortable again. I think I'll sleep for another 20 minutes-

HONK HONK!

And just like that, I'm up.

I slowly open my eyes, but then close them quickly because of the brightness of the sun. Ugh, I hate waking up when I'm still tired.

I sit up and yawn, stretching a little before I fully open my eyes and look around. I frown a little bit as I take in the yellow slide, blue swings and the multicolored mountain climbers. When the hell did I get here?

Oh, right. I came straight here after the festival yesterday and layered down in the bushes to keep warm.

Speaking of, my mind starts to drift back to the man who grabbed my arm. How in the world did he find me? I thought they lost track of me when I snuck out with the others. And if he's here, does that mean he is here as well?

I can feel my face harden as the thought crosses my mind. I get up and dust the dirt and fallen snow off of me. I'd better be more careful when finding a place to sleep, they might come for me in the night.

I shake my head at my last thought and start to walk out of the park. I sound crazy now. But seriously, I have to think about leaving here soon. They were never supposed to be this close to me.

I sigh and close my eyes, tilting my head upwards and letting the sun heat up my face. I wonder if the others are safe. Did they get captured again? Or are they still out there, scattered around and living on the streets, like me?

I open my eyes and continue to walk down the street, my hands on my pockets. No use worrying about them now, I'm sure they all managed to find somewhere to go.

My stomach starts to growl. I put my hand over my stomach as I hear it start to growl louder. My main focus is finding breakfast. Now, wasn't there a store near here...?

I take a left at the next corner and blend in with the other people walking past.

       "What's your number?"

I look up at the police officer, boredom clear in my eyes. "Why?"

He glares down at me. "So that I can inform your parents about that little incident you tried to pull."

"Don't have any." I say tiredly. I fold my arms over my chest and cross my legs as he stares into my eyes. I stare right back at him.

"Well then, do you have a guardian?"

    "Nope."

    "An older sibling?"

    "Nada."

"Come on, kid. There has to be someone we can call." He starts to tap his foot impatiently. I can tell he's irritated, but I don't care. I turn my head away and close my eyes, not saying anything. I hear him growl.
