*Flashback/Nightmare*
"Zoe?....... are you awake?" I hear someone whisper to me.
"Yeah....I'm awake." I whisper back.
It's dark in here. I can't see a thing, but I know I'm not alone. As long as she's here with me, I won't be afraid.
"Zoe?"
"Yeah?"
I hear her shift, the sound of the chains, locked around her ankles, rattling as she does so. "Do you think we'll make it out of here?"
I stare in the direction that her voice came from. "I know so."
"Alive?" She asks.
I mentally cringe. How do I answer that? I take a deep breath and let out a long sigh.
"I don't know.... but, I will promise you this: we will make it out of here, alive. Me and you." I say sternly.
I hear her shift again. "What about Kazu?"
I pause then glare into the darkness, my voice becoming hard. "What about him?"
"He saved our lives, Zoe." She responds, her voice getting slightly angry.
"Sure, he saved us. But, that still doesn't change the fact that he-"
I'm cut off by the sound of the gate door opening. We both stay quiet as a light from a flashlight is turned on and the sound of footsteps make their way in our direction. I hear whimpering as the light goes in her direction.
"Your turn." I hear the guy say.
He starts to walk in her direction as she lets out an even louder whimper.
"Leave her alone!" I yell at him. I hear his footsteps stop and the light is aiming at my face. I move my arm to cover my eyes from the blinding light, the chains rattling as I do.
"Take me. Don't hurt her." My voice is shaking.
He doesn't say anything for a second. All we hear is the sound of heavy breathing coming from her direction.
After what seems like three minutes, he laughs at me and turns back towards her. This time, instead of whimpering, I hear her cry out in pain. I see the light being flashed to the right and I'm instantly met with the image of his hand holding a fistful of her black hair. Her purple eyes lock onto my blue ones. The look she gives me automatically snaps me out of thoughts.
"Let go of her! Take me instead and leave her alone!!!" I scream at his dark figure.
I try to get up, but the heaviness of the chains on my wrist and ankles bring me back to the ground. This, however, doesn't stop me from yelling, but no matter how much I yell and beg, he ignores me.
He clicks off the flashlight so that I am met with total darkness again. The only thing I can do is hear the cries of my best friend being dragged away by him. I can only yell out to her in the dark, blinded.
