I Don't Trust You... (JR) BOOK 1

Chapter 24

Zoe's POV:

"Nice to see you again, my lovely dolls."

I glare at him as he steps further into the room. I feel Faith's hand start to shake a bit as he stops I front of us. He looks at all of us, then his gaze stops at Jade. I see her shrink a little as he leans down to her level.

He smirks at her. "I see we have the runt..."

Jade looks down as he turns his head, looking at Faith. Faith glares at him. "The weakling..."

I squeeze Faith's hand when I feel her shaking start to get worse. I glance up at Akuma as he looks at me. There's something in his eyes that I can't quite identify as his smirk widens.

"The pathetic protector...." he says. I want to punch him in his face so bad.

I spit in his face and it lands just above his left eyebrow. The look in his eye intensifies as he wipes my spit off, but his smirk still remains as he gets up.

"Still as rebellious as ever. I'm just going to have to fix that later." He says.

What the hell does that mean?

He gives me one last smirk, then his full attention is on Demyx, who isn't looking at him. "And last, and most definitely least, we have this abomination."

Demyx visible freezes as Akuma puts his fingers under his chin and lifts his face up to look at him. "I could've sworn I told my men to kill you. But, you just couldn't stay down. Huh, Demyx?"

   Demyx's eyes narrows and his breathing gets more heavier and faster as he looks Akuma in the eye. Akuma smirks and leans closer to Demyx.

   "Or should I say.... Kevona." He says slyly.

   "You bastard!"

Demyx reaches up and gives Akuma a good right hook on his left cheek. Akuma stumbles back a bit, but then recovers and grabs Demyx by the front of his shirt. My breath hitches in my throat and I freeze, scared by what he's about to do. Faith and Jade are silent as well.

"You little brat!" He growls in his face.

He throws his hand back to smack him and at that moment, I unfreeze. I take my shoe off and quickly throw it at his head. He looks at me, but before he can speak, I throw my other shoe at him and it hits him in his face.

"Leave him alone, Akuma!" I yell.

Akuma stares at me for a second, rage in his eyes. I stare back, unblinking and a glare on my face. I get on my knees and lift up the top half of my body, still staring at him.

"You are a coward." I say with as much hate as I have in my heart towards him.

He stares at me for a few more seconds, then he smirks. Dropping Demyx on the ground, he walks toward me and, without warning, grabs me by my throat. I hear Faith gasp and Jade whimper.

   Akuma smirks at me. "Looks like you're the coward." He squeezes his hand around my throats and I cough, trying to catch my breath.

    "Let her go! You're hurting her!" Demyx yells beside me.

   Akuma ignores him and looks me in my eyes, squeezing harder.  I gasp for air even more, kicking my feet a little. Jade's sobs reach my ears and the sound of chains rustling right side me.

I hear fait beside me. "Let her go! Let her go!"

After one more squeeze, he lets go. I drop to the floor, wheezing and gulping down air. I feel someone's hands on my head and back. I look to both sides of me to see Faith and Demyx with scared looks on their faces.

"I'm okay...I'm okay." I say between gasps of air. I hear chuckling in front of me and I look up, glaring at Akuma.

"You're pathetic, Zoe. A weakling. No wonder your parents sold you to me."

That hurt. My glare hardens and I growl at him. He just laughs at me and my hands ball into fists. Demyx's hand grips on my shoulder.

"Don't listen to him, Zoe." He says.

"He's just trying to get a rise out of you." Faith adds.

I look over at her to see her holding Jade. I reach my hand out and touch her red hair. Her large green eyes look at me and I can see fear in her eyes. I give her a guilty look.

"I'm sorry, Jade. I promise I'll protect you." I say lowly. Akuma laughs and grabs me by my hair. He yanks me up and I yelp.

"No use for useful promises. You couldn't even protect yourself from Kazu."

My eyes fill with tears and my breathing starts to get heavier. "W-what..."

"You really think he cared for you? He only did what I told him to do for his own benefit!" He laughs.

"Leave her alone-"

Faith gets cut off by Akuma kicking her leg. "Shut the fuck up!"

"Leave her alone!" I yell, trying to hit him, but the heavy chains stop me.

Akuma smirks and takes out a key. He unlocks the chains around my wrists and ankles, his over hand still gripping my hair. I feel the tears start to go down my cheek as he starts to drag me by my hair towards the door.

"Take me instead! Leave her alone!" Jade yells out.

He ignores her and keeps walking. They all call out to me. I glance back at them one last time before I pass out from the pain.

The last thing I see is their eyes wide with fear before I'm completely engulfed in darkness.
