Chapter 29

Zoe's POV:

      I felt the warmth of the sun on my body, before all the feeling came back to me. I could hear a light and steady beeping coming from my right. I wanted to open my eyes, but the heaviness of sleep still clung to me, so I just lay there for a few seconds with my eyes closed.

   I lay here, for what seems like a half hour, until the sleepiness goes away. I lightly flutter my eyes open and look around to see I'm in a hospital room. I frown and slowly sit up, being careful not to make myself lightheaded.

   When did I get here?

"Zoe."

My head snaps to my left. As my eyes land on Nowaki, I feel my tears sting my eyes. I push them back and make my face go expressionless. I stare at him, not saying anything. He gives me his famous soft smile and I turn away, feeling my emotions come at me at once. I missed his smile.

   "I just came to check on you.." he says awkwardly.

   I feel him walk up to me move some stuff around. "How do you feel?"

I shrug, still not looking at him. I feel if I look him in the eye, I'll see clear rejection in them.

"Hmm..." I jump a little when I feel his hand on my forehead. "Your body heat seems normal again..."

He pulls his hand away and starts to write something down on his clipboard. I let out a long, shaky sigh that I didn't know I was holding.

"Zoe..."

I glance up at him, but quickly look away again. Nope, still can't look at him. I hear him sigh and then put his hand on my shoulder. I can't help but flinch a bit.

   "I'm going to bring Hiro-san in. We both want to tell you something." He says. His voice is soft, but I can tell he's trying to hold on emotion.

   Are they trying to let me down easy?

    I feel the tears start to backup again when I think this. All I can do is nod my head. If I talk, I feel like I might cry.

   I feel his hand move away from my shoulder. "I'll be right back."

  I don't say anything as he walks out. As soon as the door clicks shut, I let the tears flow freely.

Third person POV:

As Nowaki shuts the door behind him, he can't help but feel sadness take over his body. He moves to the side and leans against the wall, putting his hand over his eyes.

'She wouldn't look at me...she must really hate us now.' He thinks to himself.

After a few seconds, he stops leaning on the wall and begins to walk down the hall to the waiting room. Once he enters, he sees everyone there. Jade, Faith and Demyx were the first to see him and they instantly jumped to their feet.

"Is she okay?!" Demyx asks.

"Can we see her?!" Jade asks, grabbing his arm, Faith doing the same.
