Janet took the kids for a walk today. It had been a while that they had gone without getting a breath of fresh air, and since the weather was shaping up, it seemed like a good idea.

"Pat, pull your hat down to cover your ears" Robbie said, letting go of Patrick's hand so he could adjust his beanie.

"Anne" Janet began. "You've gotten so big, this jacket barely fits you anymore". Anne only smiled and nodded, they all knew it was the only jacket she'd have for a while.

"Janet, do you think Anne and I can walk around the block together for a little while?" Robbie asked.

"Of course, Patrick and I will go inside soon, so meet us back there" Robbie nodded, handing Patrick to Janet and grabbing Anne's hand instead.

They began walking, Robbie had kept quiet for a while, and Anne just stared at the crackling leaves under her feet.

"So I wanted to tell you something" he breathed out. Anne nodded.

"Yesterday I heard her talking to someone" he paused, a smile was hidden behind his words and Anne could sense it.

"Someone wants to adopt one of us" he finally said, and Anne stopped walking. Her eyes widened, and she began to cough. Silent coughs escaped her lips, and it was her anxiety seeping through. Robbie patted her back and held her cheeks in his hands.

"No matter what happens, whoever gets picked, we'll be together in some way. I love you and I love Patrick so much and we've been through hell and back. Anne we deserve love and protection. Aren't you tired of waking up and hating yourself?" He lifted up his sleeves revealing the think protruding lines.

"I don't want this to happen to any of us. You know how bad it is. Whenever they come, we'll stand together. If they take Patrick, you're the only priority I will have in my life. If they take me, I'll come back for you and Patrick. And if they take you, then don't look back" Anne's eyes began watering, she wanted to leave so bad, but she wanted her whole family to come along. It wouldn't be fair to escape and have a burden left behind.
