Monte's POV

Three months ago James Sterling, a 14 year old boy, one of the top students in his class, was found in the bathroom floor of his foster home. He tried to over dose. Stefanie Adams-Foster got to him before he died in the floor. She called an ambulance and he was rushed to the emergency room where they immediately began to pump his stomach.

He wasn't my son. We had no relation whatsoever besides the fact that he was a student at the school I am the principal of. I wanted to foster him though. I wanted to make his life better. I wanted to give him the chance that he deserved. I was terrified when he was rushed to the hospital.

We waited for hours and the whole time my knees were weak and shaking. My hands were cold and clammy. I could hardly breathe. Rebecca came to the hospital as soon as she could and took me in her arms with the most love and care I've ever experienced in my entire life.

I still have nightmares of that day. Of waiting in the hospital waiting room. Waiting for a sign that the child I adored was okay. It reminded me of the pain I felt when I lost my own child in the failed pregnancy with my ex husband.

It was torture.

A/N: hey guys! Sorry it's taken me so long to update. I finally figured out where to go in this story. Yes, I know that this was all supposed to be from Stef's POV, but I felt the last few chapters should be in Monte's so you get a deeper look into James' story here. I've written all of the last few chapters but idk if I'm going to leave you guys on the big cliff hanger or not...

I hope you all have a great day!! 🎈
