Walking with Mike was the best feeling in the world. She had missed it too much for too long, and her heart seemed to burst when ever he would look over and smile.
Every now and then he would pick up their hands and kiss hers, making her blush every time.
This concept of "love" and "like" was almost foreign to her, but that didn't mean she didn't feel it. The butterflies, the goosebumps, everything Mike did sent her into a flurry of happiness. Kissing was new to her too, but then again it was to Mike too.
She looked around to where they had been, Mike's house getting increasingly smaller in the dark atmosphere. The dust filled the air and that momentary happiness she was feeling seemed to disapate with Mike's house.
She gripped his hand and suddenly felt faint, falling almost in slow motion to the ground. She could see his mouth moving, but no sound had come out. Her vision became blurry, and she felt like a thousand pounds had just been put on her chest.
She knew what was happening, her powers were too weak; she was trying to send him back to Hawkins. She knew he would protest and not let her sacrifice herself again, but sacrifices always have to be made.
She tried to close her eyes and relax, but the fire in her lungs was too much to bear. She felt like she was being crushed, like the life was being sucked out of her.
It was for him, it was for Mike; she needed him to be safe, and this place wasn't safe.
Struggling to breath, Mike yells to her, this tears littering her dirty pink dress. He flashes back to when she was gone, when that thing took her away from him. He could bear to lose her again, he couldn't. He holds her head up in his hands as she lay on the ground.
"El!!! El?! Please please stay, I can lose you again! No El please, PLEASE!"
Her hand becomes limp in his, and Mike screams. He tries CPR, but nothing seems to be working , she wasn't waking up.
Using her powers again must have brought her over the edge, and it was his fault. He picks her up, her body across his arms, and he runs back to the house.
Setting her down in the blanket fort he covers her with one that isn't covered in blood. Wiping his face roughly he cries again, but no one is there to comfort him.
When he finally opens his eyes again, he's in the bathroom back at his therapist office. He shoots up to his feet, and immediately feels his shoulder.
How can this be? It's still bleeding, but then how did he get back to Hawkins? It happened, so where was El?
Mike stands by the mirror, tears streaming down his already streaked face. She must've tried to sacrifice herself to save him, to get him out of the Upside Down. Why did she have to be so damn heroic, always trying to save him.
He didn't want to be saved, he wanted her. He wanted to kiss her, to hold her, to just be with her when ever he could. To never let her go again, never again.
Gathering himself like he always does, he runs trough the doors getting on his bike and riding with all of his strength to his house.
Going through the back door, he throws it open just in time to see what had happened in the basement. And the scene was not good.
