He had never felt so mindless in his life. It had felt almost like someone had lifted his soul out of his body and he was watching himself die.
He watched as Dustin and Lucas desperately tried to cover the wounds, and he watched as the monster turned back into Will, writhing on the ground.
The thing that ripped his heart out of his chest was El. She wasn't sobbing over his dying body like the cliche lovers; oh no, she was frantically reading the directions for a suturing kit despite the fact she couldn't read nor sew.
He reached to put his arm around her shoulders, but it went right through her. He called her name, screamed it even, but no one seemed to hear him.
He ran a hand through his disheveled hair, and sighed into nothingness. Instantly, like a whirlwind, he was sucked right back into him body; the pain returning.
He screamed in agony, but everyone seemed extremely relieved that he had been alive.
Eleven continued to repair his wounds, the blood finally coagulating and closing with her stitches. When the movement finally stopped, everyone was breathing hard, the sharpness of intake almost comparable to the claws of the monster.
Sputtering and coughing, Mike begins to get his breathing under control, and the world comes into focus again.
With tear tracks down the front of their faces, everyone took a surprising resemblance to children that lived in the woods.
He raised his trembling hand to her face, and slowly whipped his thumb along the sadness. She grabbed a hold of his hand, and sobbed harder and he became unable to keep his eyelids open.
He felt his head lull to the side, and silently strained against he bonds that death had held him with. He fought for his friends, his family, and for the girl with Eleven ways to his heart. The girl that stole his breath and scrambled his brain.
It was for her that he decided die that fateful day, but also that he wanted to live now. He needed her, and she needed him; the only problem would be their ending. How could it be like the fairy tale she deserves when her king died before the final chapter.
This queen and the king, a beautiful yet tragic depiction or what it's like to have everything and then nothing. How fate changes everything in and instant. But it's what you do with the change that counts. So yes, Mike fought that day; but can he escape for love, or die for it instead?
What Mike didn't know was what was inside of his cut. The black pattern the three had revealed after cutting his shirt had to be some kind of infection, one of the Upside Down. The collectively decided not to tell him, it would make it worst than it already was.
Little did they know how important that was, how this could effect everything.
