Can someone explain to me what the hell is happening?"
Mike demands to the entire house El still holding his hand. Max blushes as Lucas takes her hand,
"Dustin's was just jealous."
The door opens and Dustin storms into the room, his anger radiating,
"Eat shit Lucas"
He glares at the both of them, causing Lucas to step up to his face. Sensing a problem, Mike pulls them apart, annoyed with how childish they were being.
"Guys come on, calm down. Can you just tell us what happened?"
Max sighs and rolls her eyes, obviously done with the stupid bickering,
"Lucas and I kissed"
She sighed heavily and stormed over to the couch as Lucas blushes, crossing her arms and staring straight through the wall; if looks could kill. El, curious, lets go of Mike's hand, and goes over to where Max was sitting, awkwardly staring at the wall too.
Max shifts her body to look at El, chuckling slightly as she struggles to cross her arms. El turns to glare at her and Max puts her hands up in defense, causing both of them to laugh out loud.
It felt good to laugh with Max, she hadn't wanted to hate her; but seeing her with Mike hurt, it hurt her. If Max was really her friend, would she do that? Max seemed to sense the change in mood, her smile was gone.
"You were there that day in the gym weren't you? The day we were looking for dart."
Mike looks up and walks over immediately, alarmed,
"What?"
Max studies El's face as a tear slides down her dirt streaked cheek, her entire mood shifting in an instant. Mike walks around and sits next to El, he wipes her tears and takes her hands that sat in her lap, provoking tears of his own.
"El, you know-you know I would never hurt you right?"
He smiles, more tears silently track his face.
"I will always be there for you, and I will never ever lose you again. Do you understand? I promise you. I promise."
He looks away from her as more tears spill, his grief coped up from before, finally overflowing. El gently lifts his chin, his eyes still averting hers, he didn't want her to see him like this.
The tears spilling from his eyes slowly wet his face, pooling all the way down to his lips. El smiles sneakily and wraps her arms around his neck, getting so close she could feel his breath on the tip of her nose.
She twisted her fingers in his perfect curls as he got even closer to her, their lips barely touching. She looks up at him innocently, causing him to smile, the blush creeping up and hiding his freckles. She brushes the side of his face and looks up kissing him, causing Max to laugh and get up from the couch, leaving them be.
She walks over to Lucas and Dustin walks away disgusted, closing the door behind him. He sits on the floor and sighs, rubbing his face in exhaustion. He was Nancy's favorite that's all he had to remember, he was...Nancy's- Nancy!
"Nancy!"
He stands up and throws the door open, causing both couples to spring apart.
"QUIT SUCKING FACE LETS GO!"
He sprints out the front door with protests behind him,
"I'll explain on the way!"
El quietly laces their fingers together, earning a sly smile from Mike. She loves it when he smiled like that, his entire face seems to light up with everything she did. She turned to touch his pale face, stoping her stride. Looking into his eyes she rises onto her tip toes earning a screech from Dustin.
"LETS GO!"
Worriedly the group runs through the darkness, hoping Dustin he knew what he was doing. He hoped so too, they were her only hope.
He remembered what had happened in the Upside Down with Nancy in the quarry. Her sunken eyes still haunted him when ever he thought about it. She had to be there, the Upside Down surly reflects what is happening in their world; this they already knew.
He could hear only the ragged breathing of the group behind him as he pushes to run faster. They soon near the clearing, the banks of the lake soaking through their socks. They all scan the horizon frantically, by with no avail. There's no sign of life at all.
"Nancy?"
Dustin screams, walking along the shore.
"Nancy!"
Dark, all she could see was dark. It was surrounding her, consuming her; it was all she knew now. The dark, the dark was comforting. It told her things, showed her things that she could never explain.
She found it to be her new consciousness , it was safety; she hadn't realized how far gone she was until she heard the voice. The voice pierced the darkness like the first star appears within the night sky. She didn't realize who it was at first, the voice told her it wasn't important, she needed to stay in the dark.
The closer the voice came, the brighter the light was in the darkness. She became curious, she could feel consciousness again, but the pull was always there. The pull back to the dark, the-
