Heartbroken//Mileven

Chapter 25

Dustin groaned frustratedly, and Lucas kicks the tree. Max looks around, her eyes wild with disbelief;

 "um WHAT?" 

El curiously says softly "Give me your hand."

 Max reluctantly brings her hand forward, and looks at Lucas with wide eyes as Eleven started to use what power she had left.

 "She's freaking me out" 

Max tries to take a step back, but the hold of Eleven's powers were too strong, she watched as a trickle of blood comes from El's nose, and her ears, and starts to leak from her mouth. 

Max steps forward this time, throughly worried for the girl with the shaved head.

Mike was worried too, he put his hand on El's shoulder but she slapped it off, the veins standing it sharply against her pale skin. The only other time Mike had seen her like this, was the last time he had seen her.

 In the middle school, right before she had disappeared, he had promised to her that they would go to the snowball together, and with the tears leaking down her bloodied face, he remembers how pained she looked. 

But now she only looks determined as a gateway opened in between their hands.

 When it becomes big enough, Dustin and Lucas go through, but Mike bows and says "ladies first!" El laughs but it never reaches her eyes. 

"You have to go first stupid, unless you can keep this ... por-tal? Open." 

He steps forward and looks at her seriously, 

"I'm not losing you again, you're coming with me out of the Upside Down." 

She giggles as he winks and takes her arm, and the run. As soon and El steps through the gate it collapses. Almost as if it where never there at all.

They all have a moment of silence until Max turns to look at all of them.

 "Holy shit guys! What the hell just happened?!" 

Lucas starts to laugh and so does Dustin, until everyone is rolling of the floor laughing. It was almost if they couldn't stop, tears leaking from the corners of their eyes they'd take one look at each other and start laughing again.

 Mike rolls over to where Eleven is and finds her with her eyes closed. Laughing he pokes her, 

"El come on wake up, we have to go save the world."

 When she doesn't respond, he shakes her harder thing time with no avail.

 "El?!"

 He knew she was drained, but she needed a safe place to rest.

 They could here a truck turning the corner and realized that it was Hawkens Energy, the bad men.

 "Shit!" Dustin says as it passes but they don't stop; they were calling for backup.
