Dustin

Mr. Clarke walked into the classroom and the second bell rang behind him. I love science, but I was a little sad when the bell rung. Talking to El and teasing them was really fun.

"Welcome back class!" Mr. Clarke said, spotting Eleven. "Oh, I see we have a new student. Care to introduce yourself?"

El looked around the class with a smile, "Hi, I'm El Ives. I just moved here from... from New Jersey."

"Well I hope you enjoy Hawkins!" Mr. Clarke returned with a wide smile. He continued," Okay guys. Let's start off with my very very best friend in the entire world." He pulled down a lever and revealed a huge painting of this guy with shoulder length white hair.

"This is Sir Issac Newton. He made dozens of scientific contributions to the field of science as we know it. He altered the telescope, invented three extremely helpful laws of motion and even helped theorize gravity."

He continued talking about all the things Newton did in his life. Man! That guy is cool!

"And that's why Newton created Calculus! To prove the motion of the planets! WOAH THAT'S SO COOL!" El yelled, basically jumping out of her seat and the entire class was drawn to her attention. Her face went red.

"Sorry." she apologized, sinking back into her seat. Her smile slowly started to fade.

"Ah, I see you're interested El. That's amazing!" Mr. Clarke told her.

I looked over at Mike sitting beside El. Will was behind El, Lucas behind Will and I was sitting behind Mike. The desks were in rows.

Mike's mouth was gaping down to the core of the planet. Will was laughing and Lucas looked shocked. Did Mike just find a nerdy girl who loved science?

"Dude," I said.

"I know right," Mike replied.

"I think Mike just died," Will laughed. "That's it. I'm planning the wedding. You aren't going anywhere without each other."

"H-how?" Lucas stuttered. "How did Mike find a girl before us? A girl who likes science!"

El

Well that was embarrassing. Eh, It's okay. It's not my fault science is the coolest subject ever. Once everyone took their attention off of me, I calmed. But I still felt four sets of eyes on me. Four very familiar sets of eyes.

"What?" I asked as I turned to guys. They looked more shook than the ground after an earthquake.

"Perfect." Mike said. "You, my friend-" I stopped him.

"Girl friend, but continue," I corrected him.

"You, my girl friend, are perfect," he continued.

I smiled and the bell rang. The guys started packing up their things and Mr. Clarke stopped teaching. Why?

"Wait, where are we going?" I asked Mike.

"Our next class. Social Studies."

"But I wanna stay here. Can't we just stay in this class the whole day?" I said and Mike smiled at me. Mr. Clarke laughed as well.

"I wish that too El, but we gotta learn all the subjects during the day. That's the bad part of school."

"Ugh," I groaned and lifted myself from my seat. I put my backpack on and said bye to Mr. Clarke as Mike held my and led me to our other class.

The next two classes weren't nearly as interesting as science. Social Studies kept talking about old people who used to run and govern our country and English was a whole 40 minutes about how to properly use punctuation. I could not stand another minute and I was so happy to escape those classes.

Our next class was gym. I changed into some clothes in the girl's locker room and met up with the guys after I changed. I changed in about 2 minutes, but the other girls in the class were still getting ready. I see how Mike gets frustrated when I take too long.

"Alright guys, we're going do our warm-ups a little different today, in light of our new student." Mr. Sanders, the gym teacher, said while looking over to me. "Let's skip the usual stretches and go on with running around the gym perimeter as our warm-up. We're all going to line up behind me and run for a minute around the track of the gym. Sound good?"

I nodded and the guys just looked sad and tired. Running doesn't seem too bad.

"Ready, on your mark, get set, GO!" he said, starting his timer.

I ran and ran around the gym. It was fun getting all this energy out. I looked over at Mike after halfway through the minute. Him and the guys looked winded and like they just ran 50 miles.

"AH CRAMP. CRAMP!" Dustin yelled.

I slowed a little bit so Mike could catch up to me.

"Come on, run!" I encouraged him but he looked angry at me. I ran for my life as Mike started chasing me and running past the guys.

"I like this enthusiasm El!" said Mr. Sanders and I thanked him across the gym.

"And... Stop! Great job guys!"

"That was brutal," Will complained as the guys collapsed onto the gym floor. I ran towards them.

"It wasn't that bad!" I told them.

"Speak for yourself!" Lucas sassed.

Mr. Sanders let us play with jump ropes and hula hoops for the rest of class. Mike and the others were too tired to do anything else and they darted for their lives to the locker room five minutes before the class ended.

After gym we had lunch. Yay food! Mike took us outside to eat and play for this period. We finished up our lunch and sat on the table.

"I'm too tired to do anything," Dustin commented.

"We ran for one minute! Just one!" I shouted at him. "You can't possibly still be tired."

"You know what El, I am tired. What are you going to do about the fact that I'm tired?" he ended, shoving his face into his science text book. We all laughed and chilled for the time being.  This is a nice break from learning during the day.

The bell rang its annoying ring for the eighth time this day. We headed off to Reading, the class that Mike doesn't like at all.

"That wasn't too bad," I told Mike, after reading class. "I mean, it wasn't science. But it wasn't too bad.

"Just wait til tomorrow and the rest of the week. You'll get annoyed eventually."

This long day ended with one subject that was one of the easiest things of life. Math. I walked in, never seeing numbers in my life other than mine and my sibling's names. So many people didn't understand today's lesson of probability, but it was so easy!

The last and final bell of the day rang. The guys and I hurried out of the school building. That was the fastest I've seen Dustin, Lucas and Will run since running from Hawkins lab weeks back.

"So, how'd you like you're first day?" Mike questioned. grabbing my hand.

"Not bad. No homework today, which is awesome." I answered as we walked back Mike's house.

School. I like it.
