Mike

WHERE ARE YOU EL? ELEVEN?

I can't believe she's gone. Why? She made me happier than any person in my entire life has.

*FLASHBACK*

"Morning, beautiful," I said. And then about ten seconds later, I finally realized what I said.

*END OF FLASHBACK*

I cried harder, sitting on El's new bed. A bed she won't use now that she's gone.

*FLASHBACK*

Her eyes were so pretty. Suddenly, everything else in the world vanished and it was only me and El. I didn't care if the guys saw this, but I went in for it anyways.

We kissed for about 10 seconds, while one of my hands were propping me up and the other cupping her cheek. My stomach was churning. It. was. amazing.

*END OF FLASHBACK*

Hours passed, the afternoon sun set. I couldn't get myself to that El is gone. No. NO!

*Multiple flashbacks*

I was following him, smiling wider than I ever have before. I stepped up to El and wrapped my hands around her torso. I felt her hugging back, which made me feel better than I have in my life. She lowered her head and was crying onto my shoulder, but I calmed her so she wouldn't have to waste anymore energy than she already has. She preformed the energetic task of a lifetime a couple minutes back. No way am I letting her hurt that badly ever again.

El?

"Hey, everything's going to be okay." she assured me.

"Promise?"

"Promise."

ELEVEN!

I cried and cried and cried for hours. I sat down with the papers hoping to find a clue but nothing helped. I jumped up and stopped crying for a moment when three of my best friends came barging through the door.

"WASSSUPPPP WHEELER!" exclaimed Lucas as he, Dustin and Will came into the basement.

I turned around and smiled a little when they came in. I haven't seen them in a while and was happy that I'm not alone anymore. They noticed my crying and sat down on the couch in front of El's bed. Their smiles faded away.

"Oh hey, you're out of the hospital Will," I noticed and he nodded.

"Ya ya, I'm feeling much better, but happened?" he responded.

"What's wrong?" Dustin asked.

"Dude," Lucas said.

"What are those papers?" Dustin asked.

I explained to them everything that happened from Monday to now. I didn't leave one detail out and confessed everything from the shopping day, bad man's brother, test subjects 1-10 and even how she disapeered.

A complete silence overtook the room. Fresh tears came down my face and Lucas rushed over and began rubbing my back, assuring me that we will find her. Dustin and Lucas stood there on the couch.

"I-I don't know what to do anymore about this." I said.

"We need to find her," Dustin said looking down at his shoes.

"What?" Will and Lucas said at the same time.

"Guys, look at him. He's our best friend and you want him to be miserable?"

"He's not miserable!" Lucas argued.

"Oh really," Dustin sarcastically replied. " Mike, when did this entire El thing happen?"

"Around 10 in the morning." I told him.

"12 consecutive hours. I rest my case." Dustin said.

I looked up everyone, trying to keep my tears in. I blinked and looked down at the papers. Nothing.

"Guys, I know you don't want to spend the next couple of days finding El when in reality, we just found Will." I spoke up. "I will find her. Eventually. She means more to me than just let her die where ever she is."

"Hey Mike. Do you want to come over tomorrow? We can play Dungeons and Dragons and it'll get you're mind off of her." Will offered.

I smiled and nodded.

El

I opened my eyes to reveal one of the strangest places I've ever been. It seemed like a box, the walls were bright white and I laying on the floor, just waking up.

I looked around the room. I was alone. Mike wasn't there. I was all alone.

I jumped up and my eyes shifted to a man in a hazmat suit. He picked me up and carried me out of the room and placed me down in a chair in another room. The room. It was a room like the one Papa tested on me in.

I sat tight for a few minutes until hearing footsteps down the hall. It was him. Papa's brother. Mr. Brenner.

Jane

The whispers came back. It was him. Mr. Brenner was the one saying my name. He walked into the room and sat himself down across from me on the table.

"I knew you were something else. Trying to escape. Helping the other weak links escape. But it's all okay. You're the one I want," he spoke.

"Why?"

"Telekinesis?" he chuckled. "I don't believe that you actually have that magnificent power, but my brother never lied."

"You caught me. But you won't have me."

"And why not?"

"He's coming for me."

"Who?"

"My boyfriend."
