4) Friendship at once

Once I got the call from the University of London my whole life changed. I have been here at the university for about 2 weeks just trying to get settled in. The only reason I am here is because of my love of volleyball. I have been playing this sport since 5th grade.

Today is the day of our first practice. Im a bit rusty I haven't played all summer long. Just the thought of summer brought my best friend back into my mind. Oh how I miss Zayn I hope he's doing good.

When I got to the gym it was freezing I walked in slowly seeing the other girls already stretching. I got some weird stares but I blew them off. My best position is passing. I'm really good at it and I work really hard to improve it.

We did a few passing and hitting drills. Lets just say hitting is not my best. I'm not that tall. So I'll stick to defense.

As I'm trying to pass this one girl was hitting. Geeeezz she is amazing!! I kept thinking I want to be her. She can pass, set and spike all really well. She had really long wavy brown hair that was so pretty. She looked quite nice as well.

After practice all I wanted to do is go to my dorm and sleep. I have been up for ages. So I gathered my bag and headed for the door when I was yelled at to wait up. So close.

"Hey wait up." The voice told me. I turned around to see the outside hitter I was talking about. I know her name now, I heard coach Mary call her.

"Hey what's up? Wait your Kayla right?" I asked.

"Yeah I'm Kayla, your an amazing passer by the way." She told me.

Okay so Kayla is really nice. We talked for a little more, so I invited for dinner and coffee tonight. She agreed and we went back to our dorms.

"Oh holy nut case it's cold!" I exclaimed.

It was 4:30 so I decided to text Kayla and see what her dorm room number is. I needed to walk, so I went to get her instead of her coming to get me.

Fortunately she was in the same building just different floors than my room.

I arrived at her room and knocked. She opened and had a irritated look on her face. I questioned her and all she did was pointed at the bed across from her.

There was two people making out.

"Ah now I see." I said.

It started getting weird so we both walked out very fast.

"Well that was weird!" I said very loud.

"Yeah that's what I have to live with everyday." She told me.

"Wow that's horrible, thank gosh I don't have a roommate." I said.

"Lucky butt!" Kayla replied.

"Yeah now let's get to dinner before my tummy eats itself." I said hungry.

Once we arrived at the restaurant I bolted inside. It was really warm and cozy. We sat down and looked at the menu but I knew what I wanted.

"May I take your order ma'am?" The waiter asked.

"Oh yes um, sweet tea to drink and fried chicken fingers with ranch on the side." I told the nice man.

"And for you?" The waiter asked Kayla.

"Same please." She told him.

After dinner we walked to Starbucks.

"Oh how I love warm coffee!" Kayla spoke.

"Well Kayla your really amazing and I can talk to you about a lot of things.

I can tell we will be friends for a long time." I said.

"Thanks your amazing too!" she added.

Back at the college it was late so I wanted to get in bed. I walked Kayla back to her room but when we got like even close to the door we heard snoring. "That's Jake." Kayla said with anger in her voice.

"Who's that?" I asked.

"Tanner, my roommates boyfriend." she rolled her eyes. "I can't sleep in there with that ugly snoring, I will get zero sleep!" she added.

I smiled remembering I have two beds in my room. "Hey you wanna crash in my room?" I asked her.

"Oh my that would be amazing!" She said hugging me tightly.

As soon as we both got to my dorm we crashed. It was an amazing night with an amazing person.

Kayla is one of those friends you can meet in a minute and have a connection. I feel like we've known each other or something. I can't explain it but it's awesome to know I have a friend in this world. Well besides Zayn. Oh great, Zayn again. Popped right into my head. He likes it in there I think. I haven't talked to him in forever. He never texts me anymore. Maybe he's too busy. Well I hope he's well.

I became super tired and at once, I feel into a very deep sleep.
