~Devina's POV~
Dylan walked me back to his place in complete silence. I wanted to bathe in it.
"I really am sorry, Devina." Well, almost complete. "I don't mean to cause you any trouble," I scoffed at this and rolled my eyes, still refusing to speak. "You. You have to understand that Zane and I have history together. We go back hundreds of years. Lots of things have happened, things I can't forgive him for." He closed his eyes as if his memories were fighting to be remembered. "I want to make Zane mad and so do you, we're both in the same ship here." I rolled my eyes again, contemplating whether to speak or keep my mouth sealed. Part of me wanted to ask what Zane had done, but the other part knew better. It hurt Dylan too much. Not that I care.
"We wouldn't be in the same boat," I corrected him and he just chuckled. "If you wouldn't have said anything." Only after the words left my mouth did I realize how stupid and idiotic they sounded. "And then I wouldn't know anything about his first mate. And Zane probably wouldn't have told me." I added and bumped his shoulder with mine. "So in a weird and demented way, I thank you." I like Dylan, aside from all his constant flirting and suggestive smirks, he was an okay guy.
"I shouldn't have done what I did, said what I said." I shrugged, ready to just move on with everything and be done with it. Sometimes you're better just moving on.
"Better now than later." I laughed as he opened the door to his small house. "Is this yours?" I asked and he shook his head.
"No, believe it or not, Zane kicked me out of his pack." I laughed and shut the door behind us, not before catching a glimpse of Zane staring directly at me on the front porch.
"Where did you go?" I asked, making Dylan turn around. "After he made you leave, I mean."
"Everywhere." I raised my eyebrows and he chucked. "I traveled the world. Name a city or country and I bet I've been there." I thought about this and smirked.
"Forks." He rolls his eyes and nodded.
"Too many vampire-themed things there." He scrunched up his face and fake barfed.
"Stop that!" I playfully slapped his arm which he grabbed and poured, trying to act like it hurt. "I love Twilight!" He chuckled and genuinely smiled.
"Maybe I can take you there sometime?" Before I could respond, the front door barged open revealing an angry Zane with one of my bags in his hand.
"Trying to make a move on my mate? That's shallow. This isn't a kiddie pool Dylan." He scoffed and tossed me the bag. "I swear if he tries anything I will kill him." He looked me in the eyes but I glanced away. "I'm going to be checking on you whenever I want, so try to stay clothed." I whipped around and flinched.
"Oh that's right, you're only used to easy girls. News flash Zane, I'm not like you. I don't just sleep around with random people." His nostrils flared with anger. I've seen the way girls have looked at him around here like they wanted seconds but unfortunately for them, I know Zane's type. He doesn't dish out seconds.
"What did you want me to do? Wait for you?"
"That's what I did. But it's fine, right? Because you're a guy? And if you sleep around you're considered cool and manly but if I, I'm a whore because I'm a girl?" This time I was the one overfilling with anger. These double standards are really starting to tip my lid.
"No. I don't care about anyone else. I care about you having sex." He tried to calm himself down but it was no use. "With anyone other than me." I scoffed at this and stepped back towards Dylan, I know how that simple action bothers him so I took yet another step closer to his brother. God, I'm stooping low.
"Yeah, like I'm going to sleep with you." His face hardened again and he went to take a step towards me but Dylan finally stepped in and blocked Zane from seeing me.
"Why do you always act like I'm such a monster, Devina?" Zane yelled over Dylan's shoulder.
"Because you are," I said, slinging the backpack over my shoulder and walked out of the foyer/living room. "Thanks for my stuff," I called out before stomping up the stairs and walking into a semi-empty room. It consisted of a bed, two end tables, and a dresser. I plopped the backpack down on the ground and it landed with a soft thud. I gently flopped down on the hard bed. Within a few minutes, I was out like a light. But before I was completely out, I felt someone brush the hair out of my face and kiss my forehead and if I'm not completely crazy, I'm pretty sure the stranger said something along the lines of "Sunshine".
