The next morning I felt fine, I can't say the same for Devina. She woke up groaning.

"Ibuprofen?" I asked. She opened her eyes and they were red. "Sunshine let me help you. Please." She shook her head and went to get up but I gently pulled her back down. "No stay here," I ordered and headed off to the kitchen. I made some quick scrambled eggs and toast. Grabbing some ibuprofen and some water, I hurried back upstairs. "I didn't want to be gone for too long so I didn't make pancakes," I said coming into the room. Devina was standing up with her phone in her hand, looking as white as a ghost. "Sunshine? What's wrong?" Her phone was the first thing to drop, then she soon followed after. "Devina talk to me." Tears were streaming down her cheeks making me tear up a little. "Baby,"

"Everett called," She started, making me tense. Why was he calling her? When did he get her phone number? I tried to push these questions out of my mind and waited for her to continue. "Gillie and Henry were in-in a plane crash." She sobbed. "They're gone." I couldn't feel her exact pain because we aren't full mates, but I felt the pain for her.

"Come here." I pulled her into my arms and rubbed her back. "Shh, it's okay." She cried even more for a few minutes until she was too tired to continue. "It's going to be okay."

"This always happens. Things always go wrong. Everyone always-" I stopped her.

"No, I know what you're thinking. You aren't going to lose me Sunshine. Not ever." She fell limp in my arms, making me worry a little. I turned her around so she was facing me. She had a scary blank look on her pale face.

"Yes, I will. It's just a matter of time." She was right though, bad things do keep happening to her. Henry and Gillie were both apart of our pack so it was a loss for me too, they just weren't some of my best friends. She wasn't right, however, about me leaving her or her losing me. That's never going to happen. Even if it's what she wants.

"Do you want to eat?" I asked after a little bit. She just shook her head. "Come on, you should eat something Sunshine." She wiggled out of my arms and crawled back into bed. "I'll take that as a no," I mumbled. She curled up into a little ball and I heard her start crying again. "Sunshine, it's going to be okay." I hurried over to her side but she just got up and walked across the room away from me.

"Stop saying that!" She screamed, and when I tried to pull her into my arms she shoved me off of her. "Just leave me alone Zane!" And with that, she ran into her room and locked the door. That's where she stayed for three days.

Every day it was the same routine, I would knock on her door when I first woke up, and only left once I heard her tell me to leave. It might sound crazy, but by just hearing her voice, it made me feel sane. Then I would try to give her something to eat which she would silently refuse. She hasn't eaten in days. I called the one person I never thought I would, Mika. He agreed to come over and an hour later, he knocked on the door.

"Hey." I greeted him. He looked past me into the house.

"Where is she? What happened?" I moved to the side so he could come in and walked towards the bottom of the stairs.

"She's in her room. She hasn't eaten in days, or even come out. Gillie and Henry were in a plane crash. They didn't make it. She's-" My voice cracked, not used to holding this much emotion. "She's hurting so much and I can't stand it, Mika. Please just help her. She won't l-let me come near her." He nodded and hurried up the stairs. With one knock, he leaned his head against the door.

"Dev? It's me, Mika. Can I come in?" I heard some shuffling before the door opened. I sucked in a deep breath as I saw her appearance. Her skin was so colorless, it was almost translucent. Under her eyes were dark circles and her actual once blue crystal eyes were red and dull. I wanted to pull her into my arms but even I knew that just my touch won't take the pain away. Mika's eyes widened as he took in her appearance also. She looked up at me but slowly let her eyes fall away.

"D-" I stopped myself and shoved my hands into the front pockets of my jeans.

"Please just leave me alone." She finally spoke making all hope drop out of my heart. And with that, she stepped back into her dark room and shut the door.

The next morning I did the same thing, knocked and waited for her to tell me to leave. Only I didn't follow her directions. I stepped back and lurched forward, kicking the door down with my foot. I heard a gasp from the room and saw her quickly sit up. I stayed in the door frame, panting. Then her eyes welled up with tears and she opened her arms. I let out a breath and pulled her into my arms.

"It hurts Zane. It hurts so much." She sobbed on my shoulder. A tear escaped my eye and rolled down my cheek. I felt it too. Not because I was grieving over friends. But because I could feel her pain.

"I-I don't know what to do Sunshine. I don't know how I can make you feel better. I'm so sorry." More tears freely flowed down my face. I felt terrible.

"Just be here. Just be here with me."
