I fidgeted in my seat, watching as trees and other cars zoomed past us.

"Now," I started and glanced at him, catching him in the act of checking me out. I blushed but managed to continue. "This doesn't mean anything." He rolled his eyes and looked away. "I'm serious. Just stay away. Okay?"

"Stay away? You want me to stay away?" I nodded and fixed my eyes on my small hands. "Devina, don't you understand?" He scoffed. "I can't stay away from you. I physically and emotionally can't do it. And you can't ask me to do that." I tilted my head back and closed my eyes.

"Yes, I can. I'm asking you now. I'm begging you. I can't take this, I can't take all of this anymore. Just please respect that. I have too much going on right now. Please don't do this Zane." I opened my eyes back up and gasped, his face was inches away from mine. He licked his lips, calling my eyes to watch.

"Don't do this?" He whispered, leaning in more. I sucked in a deep breath and closed my eyes, waiting for him to close the distance. "Okay. I won't." My eyes snapped open as I frowned. He was looking out his side of the window.

"Don't come back," I said as I climbed out of the car.

"No, look I'm sorry. That wasn't cool. Just, let me take you somewhere to eat. It's early, you're probably hungry." I shook my head and slammed the door behind me, jogging up to my house and into my room. Sighing, I changed into some comfortable clothes and slid into bed. After a few minutes the door of my bedroom opening making me sigh. These past few weeks have drained me of more energy I thought my body could hold. With Zane just popping up along with Forrest, my whole mind is fogged up. He said it wasn't him but when I woke up with Forrest in the car, there was a bite mark on my neck. I turned over on my back and sighed.

"Gwen, I'm-" I started, sitting up but stopped talking as I saw who was there. "What the hell Zane? How did you even get in?" He put his finger up to his mouth and slowly shutting the door behind him. Once the door was shut, he slowly turned around and crept over to me. He stopped at the end of the bed and looked down.

"I'm sorry. I fucked up. Again." I pushed the covers away and sat a little straighter. "I don't know why I keep doing this. I keep-" I lept off of the bed and crashed my lips onto his. He responded quickly and pushed us down on the bed. "No, wait. I need to say this first." For one of the first times, he was the one who pushed me back and sat up.

"No, I need to say something." I swallowed the lump in my throat and pulled my knees up to my chest.

"Just let me talk first. Please." I nodded, signaling for him to continue. "I know you don't understand. I can't blame you, I know this is all too much for you I just-" I cut him off by leaning forward and holding his head with my hands.

"No, that's what I'm trying to say. I do understand. I know that wasn't you. Not really. I'm sorry. So sorry. I thought if I pushed you away then I wouldn't be caught up in this anymore, that I wouldn't get hurt. But I'm even more hurt without you here." He pulled away again and moved back.

"You're hurt because of me."

"No. No, I'm hurt because I miss you, Zane. So much. I miss not having you around." He shook his head and stood up.

"No, you were fine here without me. Don't worry, I'll go. I won't stick around again like I did last time. I'll go." I quickly stood up and grabbed his arm, pulling him back.

"Please don't go. I'm begging you Zane don't leave me again." He removed his arm from my grasp and moved towards the door. "No! Please!" I fell to the ground, sobbing. "Don't leave me," I whispered as he shut the door behind him. It took me a few moments to gather myself, but eventually, I shot up and ran after him like I should have many times before. "Zane!" I screamed as he moved into his car. He stopped and slowly turned around.

"Just let me go, Devina!" He yelled, anger flashing in his green eyes.

"But what about us? Huh? You said we were meant to be and now you're just leaving me!? You promised you wouldn't hurt me! I love you!" He closed his eyes for a brief moment then opened them back up, taking a deep breath.

"I don't want you anymore." My eyes widened as I stepped back. "I don't want you. So just let me go." Tears streamed down my pale face as I nodded.

"O-okay." I stuttered and turned around, locking myself in my room. Where I would reside for the next few weeks.
