"She's my mate!" Zane yelled causing both the man and I to widen our eyes. Mate? Is Zane Australian?
"No. That's not possible. She's-" Zane cut him off with a blow to the jaw.
"Get out before I throw you out of the pack." I took a step back from th...

Deep down inside, I didn't want to be there with April but something was forcing me to stay. To be with her instead of Devina. It was like a coma, I could hear everything and most of the time see things but I wasn't in control. My perception of time wasn't valid anymore, maybe years have passed. April giggled as she lead us upstairs to the bedroom. My body smiled but my soul cringed. As we made it to the room, she jumped onto the bed.
"Zanie," She sang as she saw I wasn't moving forward. "Zane!" She yelled. "Get over here!" I stumbled forward, not able to control my legs anymore but once my bare feet stepped on a small piece of paper, I froze. I reached down to pick it up and read the two words etched in Devina's handwriting.
You promised.
Right then and there, with the paper still in my hand, I snapped out of it. I no longer felt compelled to follow Aprils orders or stay here with her. In fact, the only thing I felt compelled to do was to kill her.
"Zane calm down." She backed up against the headboard, her long red hair sticking up all over the place making her look crazier than she already was.
"You ruined everything!" I yelled, with anger laced with my words. "You took my own will from me. You took myself away from me. You took her away!" I screamed and lunged at April. "You should be dead by now. Ill help out with that." And with that, I grabbed her head with my hands and snapped her neck. Right there. In the bed that I once shared with my one true love. I could only see red and Devina's smiling face in my head. I ran downstairs and hopped into my little Tesla that April made me buy. It was ugly. I'll tell you that. Pulling my old phone from my pocket I finally checked the date. May. A year later. My heart dropped as I thought about all the things Devina had done this past year. Had she finished school yet? Had she moved on? Who was she living with? I dialed Dylan's number and he picked up on the third ring.
"Hello?"
"Dylan. Where's Devina?" I frantically asked while looking up into his once full house. It showed no signs of anyone living in it.
"Zane?"
"Yes. It's me. Now, where is she?" There was a pause before he finally answered.
"You left her. You chose April over your own mate. How could you do something like that? How could you just let someone like her walk away? You don't deserve her anymore man. And now that I'm thinking about it, you never did." Then the line went dead.
"Fuck!" I screamed, smashing my hands on the steering wheel.
