Vanessa P.O.V
Usually the ride home from school never took that long only ten minutes but this car ride felt like an hour. We were sitting in silence that no one bothered to break.
And as if my prayers were answered, he finally spoke, "So um what got you into music Vanessa?"
I looked up at him and his eyes were focused on the road. I tried to speak, but my mind was focused on his looks. I know he's a teacher, but I can't help to admire him.
"Um...I-I don't know, my father was in a band and I guess his music gene rubbed off on me, but that's what he always says," I told him and he nodded.
"That's cool. What band?" He asked and I looked out the window to admire the rain.
"You wouldn't have heard of them, they're an old band, they were called The Thrashers," I said and he nodded.
"You were right, I have never heard of them," I said and we both awkwardly laughed.
"So what about you? What got you into music," I asked once our laughter faded.
"Um I just always liked the idea of music. I liked being able to write and listen to music, and I guess I just built a passion for it," he said and I nodded.
"Well that sounds cool," I said and from the corner of my eye I could see him smiling at me.
A few moments of silence took over again, but I was just starting to get comfortable, which meant I was able to talk more.
"So you're quite young to be a teacher huh?" I asked and he nodded.
"I guess you could say that I mean I'm only twenty-three," he responded and I just simply nodded.
"Well that is young, at least at my school it is," I said and he chuckled a bit.
I felt my heart pumping a little bit faster when he chuckled. It was so cute, just like him. And his eyes were just breath taking. I think this is the time when I'm able to say that I may be turning into one of those girls who were gawking over him.
A couple more minutes later, we pulled up to my house and I looked back at him to see him smiling at me.
"What?" I asked while raising an eyebrow at him.
"Nothing it just...it seems like we're neighbors now," I said as he pointed to the house next to mine that currently had a moving truck parked in the driveway.
"You're my neighbor?" I asked and he nodded.
"I guess so," he said with a small laugh.
"Hm well then I guess I'll be seeing you later this evening for the street picnic?" He said and he tilted his head.
"It's a traditional thing we do on my street. My parents host it annually to bring all of our neighbors together. It's really fun, you should come," I said and he nodded.
"We'll see," he said with a smile.
A little bit of silence was over our heads again, and once my mind was able to function again, I caught us both staring into each other's eyes. I was getting lost in them for sure, but I couldn't do this.
I turned away from him and back to the window, "Well I should probably get going."
"Um y-yeah you probably should," he said and I got out of the car.
"I'll see you later Mr. Mendes if you come tonight," I said and he smiled.
"Yeah we'll see," he said and I closed the door and walked up to my front door.
Once I was in, I threw my stuff on the ground and slid my back down against the door and sat on the ground.
I am definitely not prepared for what's about to happen.
