Falling For You

Chapter 15.

Shawn P.O.V

I haven't left Vanessa's side at all since she's been here. It's almost been four days, and the doctor said she should be waking up.

Her mom left right after we heard the news.  She said she would be back, but she never did.  She left yesterday, and still wasn't here, so it's just been me and Vanessa.

I wanted to be the first person she saw when she wakes up because I had to apologize to her.  It's my fault she's in here, and I want her to know how much I care about her.

"Come on baby just wake up please," I mumbled while tightly holding onto her hand.

I got nothing.  I felt tears start to build up in my eyes again.

"Please baby please," I begged, and then something happened.

Suddenly, her heart monitor started going crazy.  I backed away and yelled for help.  Then a bunch of doctors came into the room and wheeled her out.

I rushed to her side and grabbed her hand, "You'll be okay I promise," and I let her hand go as she went into the surgery room.

My heart was beating so fast and the whole room was spinning.  I walked back into her room and buried my face in my hands.

"I'm so sorry Ness," I mumbled to myself and let my tears flow.

"Don't be sorry Shawn," I heard a voice say and I looked up to see her.

"Vanessa," I whispered and she gave me her usual beautiful smile.

"Don't blame yourself for this please," she said and sat in the chair next to me.

"This isn't r-real," I stuttered and her hand touched mine.

"But it is.  This is you helping me.  You haven't left.  Everything that's happening is supposed to be happening," she said with a small whisper.

"Please come back to me baby," I whispered to her and she smiled.

"I will, just give me time.  I'm not leaving you I promise," she said and I could t help but smile.

Soon after, she faded away.  I knew it wasn't real but it had to mean something, or maybe I'm just going crazy without her.  That's probably it.

I ended up falling asleep in the chair, and when I woke up, Vanessa was laying in her bed.  She must've just come out of surgery.  I got up and sat next to her bed.

I grabbed her hand and smiled a little bit.  I'll admit, she was looking better than before when I first saw her in here.  She looked healthy.

I think if I hanged onto that thought, then she would come back to me.  Then, I brought her hand closer to me when I felt her hand squeeze mine a bit.

"Vanessa?" I questioned, and she still remained in that still state.

Then, just like before, her heart monitor was beating uncontrollably.  I panicked again, and the doctors rushed into the room.

They were about to take her again, but it all of the sudden, slowed down.  The doctors all looked at each other and I just looked towards Vanessa. 

My eyes widened as I saw her hand twitch.  I grabbed her hand again, and her hand moved again.

I moved closer to her and I could feel her breath on my face.  I felt a shy smile form on my face, and my eyes started to water.

Her beautiful blue started to flutter open and her head tilted towards me.

"Shawn?"
