Shawn P.O.V

"Accident? What do you mean accident?  What kind of accident?" I asked and I tried to hide the fact that my heart was racing.

"Paramedics found her car crushed into a tree and everything was in flames," she said and I was starting to have trouble breathing.

"This can't be happening," I mumbled to myself, but not as quiet as I wanted it to be.

"I'm sorry what was that?" She said while trying to make eye contact with me.

"Oh um I just asked how are we going to tell Jordan," I lied and her hand moved up to her mouth.

"That's what I wanted to discuss with you," she said and I nodded.

"Well I think we should just break the news to her gently," I told her and she nodded.

A few seconds later, she left and walked back into the class to talk to Jordan. From the window, I could see Jordan start to cry and Ms. Jackson was comforting her.

I felt my fists start to clench and my heart started pumping faster. Tears were soon filling my eyes when I realized that it was all my fault. I caused her to crash by texting her.

I ran my hand through my hair and tried to process everything. Then I turned around and gathered all of my things. I needed to see her. I needed to she how bad it was.

I basically ran out of my office to Ms. Jacksons side.

"Um my apologies for interrupting, but I just got an emergency call for a family emergency," I lied and she looked at me.

"It's okay you can go, I'll take over," she said and I nodded.

I rushed out the door and out of the school to my car.  I got in and immediately started driving to the hospital.

My mind was going insane.  It was as if my mind was playing tricks on me.  Everywhere I looked I would see her.  I didn't know how bad the accident was, but it couldn't have been good.  I stopped at a stop light and to me left, I saw her car.

The whole thing was in flames and firemen were trying to stop the fire.  My whole heart sunk again and I looked back into the car refusing to look back.  But then I saw her.  She was sitting in the passenger seat with the same beautiful smile on her face.

I knew it was my minds way of messing with me, but it felt so real.

"Hey Mendes," her voice said in a quiet whisper.

"You're not real," I mumbled and turned my head back to the road.

"But I am Shawn look at me," I heard her say and her hand touched mine.

I looked back at her for a quick moment and my body started shaking. Her face was covered in blood and there were scratches along her arms and legs.

"Come find me Shawn," she said while placing her hand on my cheek.

I turned back and looked towards the road again. I pulled up to the hospital, and parked.

"I'm broken without you Shawn," her voice said and I looked over to not see her next to me.

"Ness where did you go?" I asked and looked around the car.

"I need you to heal me Shawn," her voice rang out again and it felt as if it was fading away.

"Revive me Shawn," she said and her voice was gone.

I rested my head on the steering wheel and my head was spinning.  I waited until I thought everything was normal and rushed out of my car.  I ran into the hospital and asked the receptionist for her room number.

I went into her room and I immediately felt my eyes swell up with tears.  It was worse than I thought.

"Shawn?" I heard a woman say from the corner of the room.

"Mrs. Garcia," I said and turned my head to look at her.

She had tissues in her hands and her eyes were bloodshot.

"Actually it's Ms. Martin now," she clarified and I nodded.

"My apologies Ms. Martin," I said and she gave me a weak smile.

"What are you doing here?" She asked and I looked over at Vanessa.

"I heard about what happened and the school wanted me to pay respects also just as a friend," I said and I moved closer to her bed.

My palms were sweaty and my legs felt limp.

"Well thank you.  Nessa has always talked highly about you ever since you became her teacher," she said and I smiled while feeling a tear drop from my eye.

"Good to hear," I said and rested my hand on Vanessa's.

Suddenly, I heard a knock on the door and I turned around to see the doctor.

"How is she?" Vanessa's mom said and stood up from the chair.

"Well we have just received some news," he said in a very low, quiet voice which probably wasn't a good sign.
