˚ºTwo Years Laterº˚

Nathanael gently woke up Angel. She smiled up at him and he smiled down at her. It was the end of his month but Marinette was in Britain on a fashion exposé and brought the rest with her so he either had to keep Angel for another month or send her to Britain. He hadn't decided yet.

The five year old quickly got out of bed, changed in her closet then walked down to the breakfast table where Nathanael had scrambled eggs, same strips of bacon and wattles waiting for her. She sat in her chair and looked over at Nathanael as he ate his breakfast, his phone then ringing. He smiled at her and she smiled back. At this age, she didn't speak much. He checked the name, groaned and answered.

Marinette rambled into his ear and he groaned, holding his handover the speaker. "Angel, do you mind if I leave for a little bit?" She shook her head and he smiled and walked down the hall. She stood up and hid behind a wall. "Marinette calm down and speak rationally." Nathanel put her on speaker so his arm wouldn't cramp, knowing how long she could talk.

"Send Angel to Britain already!" She yelled.

"You know I'd have to go with her right? A five year old can't go alone on an airplane," Nathanael leaned against the wall. "Why can't she just stay with my for another month? One more month then the rest of the year she's yours," he took three month shifts. Three months with Angel, one alone, then three with her so he could get it over with and so Marinette could spend time with her. She saw her other parent during those months, but it was extremely awkward for the other. "I usually do three anyway."

"She has her ballet recital next week. Have you even been taking her to her lessons?" Nathanael laughed at the question.

"No. She's to random and spontaneous for something as graceful as ballet," he laughed. "I signed her up for an art class and she's excelling at it." A long sigh then a pause on the phone.

"This isn't working Nathanael. We can't agree on anything that's good for her. We need to go back to a judge and one of us needs to get full custody of her." Nathanael sighed, knowing she was right.

"Fine but can we talk about this later? She's watching me," Angel quickly ran to him and he ruffled her hair. He hung up on Marinette and bent down to her. "Angel, you can't spy on people, okay?"

"Okay Daddy." He knew in the custody battle, Marinette would get her.

And he was right. He looked at Angels almost empty room, her closet with few clothes, most toys missing, but her bed and desk in tact. Nathanael sighed and lifted himself off of the frame and watched from her window that looked out onto the street as Marinette drove off from the house, Angel in the back whiel crying as she looked up at Nathanael. She banged on the window as the car drove off, Nathanael slightly waved and when the car was out of view, tears streaked his cheeks and landed on his shoes or the floor beneath his feet.
