Emma laughed a deep stomach laugh, a snort escaping in the laughter making Sky laugh harder. After all that, they just needed time to be friends. Away from the family drama and away from everyone. Emma calmed down and looked down at her feet, her ice cream melting in her small cup. Sky took it and threw it away then sat down on the bench. "You know," she bit her lip. "Not long ago I found out that my parents gave me away when I was younger."
"That's awful." Sky growled.
"I asked my mom about it. She said it was the worst decision of her life but she was only twenty and thought it was best for me," Emma scoffed. "When she had Louis and Angel she said I would be a big sister and wouldn't be forgotten or ignored because of them, but I was." Tears threatened her eyes.
"Why would they ignore you?"
"Because my twins are more interesting. They have friends who hate each other, are half siblings and more. Then I'm little old orphan Emma who ended up with her family again due to a contract," she remembered Tikki and Plagg. Ladybug and Chat Noir were never around anymore but Akumas were coming back faster and faster with little show of the two heroes. They were getting old, tired. "I have basic interests and one friend!"
"Hey!"
"Sorry, Sky but I just..." Tears trickled down her cheeks. "I just feel like me being here is like, a total waste. I have no story left."
"Some ends are just the beginnings," Sky wiped away her tears. "I'm sure your story is going to continue at some point but you just need to give it time."
"I just," Emma sighed, biting her lip and looking up at the big house behind them. She saw Louis and Angel studying in her room. "I feel like no one cares anymore. I'm not the baby and my story is no longer needed."
"Emma," she jumped at her mothers voice, feeling arms wrap around her from behind. Neither at them had seen her walk out. "We haven't forgotten you."
"But you're so busy all the time and Angel and Louis are so much more interesting then me." Marinette sighed and Sky took his cue and left. She sat down and Adrien joined them.
"My sweet MoonBeam," Marinette cupped her cheeks. She hadn't called Emma that in a long time. "You matter and you're interesting but in your own way. I love you, your father loves you and we are busy but, you brought us back together. We hated each other, but you brought us together and you got us to be a family again."
"Emma," she looked at Adrien. "You are no less important then them. You're special in your own way. We just, forget you're all different. We love you, no matter what," he hugged her and she melted into him. She remembered waking up in his arms some nights when she was little. "No one could replace you and we know giving you up was wrong, but we thought it was best."
Emma nodded against his chest, her heart heaving with relief. That night while she was brushing her hair by her makeup mirror she saw a small box nicely sitting on her pillow. She walked to her bed and opened it wide, a bright yellow flash appearing. "Hey," the small magical black cat yawned. "Miss me Kitten?" He flashed his green eyes at her.
Her eyes widened before holding Plagg to her cheek. "You have no idea. Why'd you leave?" Plagg and Tikki would show up in her room and she would freak out, knowing they helped Ladybug and Chat Noir, but haven't recently.
"Adriens getting old," her eyes widened at the fact that her father was a hero. "So your mom and dad gave us up. You got me and then your soulmate will get the earrings." Emma nodded as she slid on the ring.
"I feel bad if they don't have piercings." Emma giggled. She yawned and crawled into bed.
"I'll tell you the rules in the morning," she nodded as he snuggled up into her chest. "Night Kitten."
"Goodnight Plagg." Emma mumbled as she drifted off to sleep.
