"Settle down, settle down class!" McGonagall called over the room.
Our year was currently in the Great Hall discussing the ball and what we were to expect.
"As I was saying, the ball will be available to all students, so feel free to ask whoever you please.""Hear that Longbottom? You can ask a first year since no one else would ever dare to go with you." Draco called out, earning a snicker from the Slytherins.
Professor McGonagall ignored Draco's outburst and continued on, "After some planning, we've decided to make the ball masquerade themed."
This earns a few "oooohs" from the girls surrounding me.
"It's all very romantic actually." McGonagall muttered shyly, "A spell will be placed on the castle, so your identities will remain unknown till midnight."My mind immediately wandered to Draco. Maybe we could go together....
"Now, let's practice! Boys, choose your girls!"
Then she sounded the record player, filling the room with a waltz. The guys in the room looked at each other before cautiously standing up and walking towards girls seated through the hall. Ron of course was bombarded by Lavender, and before I could find Harry, a bleach blonde haired Slytherin came swooping in.
"Granger." He smirked, "Care to dance?""There's people around, you know?" I told him nervously.
"Everyone else has a partner. We have no choice." He winked, "If you act like you aren't enjoying it, even though I know you will, we could pull it off."
I took Draco's hand nervously, looking around me. No one seemed to notice us, they were all occupied in trying not to step on their partner's feet.
Draco placed his hand on my waist and brought me into him, then we began to move. He was a very good dancer and knew exactly what he was doing.
"This is ludicrous." I whispered to him, keeping my head down."Look at me, Granger." He said, tilting my head up.
My eyes met his and I swear my legs turned into jelly.
Draco brought me closer into him as we danced around the hall. We were careful to stay on the outside of the circle that had formed in the center of the room.
"Who would have known that Draco Malfoy can actually dance?" I teased. He laughed slightly and looked down at me, "There's a lot of things you don't know about me."
"I'd like to know more." I said suddenly.
Before Draco could reply, we noticed people began staring at us. Draco's entire Slytherin group had stopped what they were doing just to look at us.
"People are staring." I whispered sadly.
Draco sighed deeply before stomping on my right foot with all of his might.
"Ouch! Why'd you step on me?!""Maybe if you were paying attention, I wouldn't have stepped on your bloody foot!" He snapped, "Professor, I need a new partner. I can't even believe I'm touching her."
"Miss Granger, please take Miss MacNair's place." McGonagall sighed.
I sadly left Draco's side and took over where Aria MacNair was standing. She was dancing with Harry and seemed to be enjoying herself way too much.
"How'd you get stuck with Malfoy?" Harry asked as I approached him.
"Don't ask me." I replied in an annoyed tone.
I glanced behind at Draco who was now sloppily dancing with Aria. He then caught my eye and gave me a sorrowful look.Harry then placed his hand on my waist and entertained our fingers, "I'm a terrible dancer."
"Oh, believe me, I know."
