Chapter 36

Lucas’s POV

I was trying to stay strong, as at the minute I was the only Alpha standing for the two packs. After I could not link up with the packs doctor, I called out to our betas through our packs link to get them to help me find Ricardo. As soon as I called them, they were by my side where I was running around frantically looking for him.

We tried picking up his scent but there was so much blood spill, it was near on impossible even with our heightened werewolf senses. My human side was panicking like mad while my wolf side was as mad as hell. We searched the whole clearing leaving no stone unturned, before we started to search the surrounding forest.

I was starting to lose hope when I managed to pick up his faint scent; I followed his sent as my wolf was eagerly trying to take over. I finally gave into my wolf as I needed to find Ricardo as soon as possible as I was starting to have flash backs of how he was when I left him with the doctor.

I felt my wolf take over running as fast as he could. In the distance, I could see something hanging from a tree. This seemed to send my wolf into frenzy as he charged toward the hanging object. As we got closer, my worst fears ever had come true! It was Ricardo, his body covered in blood as his limp naked human body hung from the tree.

I quickly changed back to my human form, I climbed up the tree and started to untie the ropes that where tied around his wrists. “Ricardo stay with us please your mate is waiting for you” I pleaded as I battled with the ropes desperately.

“Get under his body and get ready to catch him,” I shouted to the two below as I undid the last knot. I watched his limp body fall through the air into the arms of the men below.

 I quickly jumped out of the tree and ran to check on Ricardo.” He is barely alive Alpha,” they informed me. As I looked at Ricardo’s body, a vision of Alpha Jackson’s dead body was in front of me. I put a block up trying to get Alpha Jackson out of my head. As right now, I was struggling to deal with everything that has and was going on around me.

I looked towards my beta “Search around and see if you can find the doctors body” I ordered, as I leaned down beside Ricardo. ” Ricardo I am so sorry I left you! Please Ricardo stay with us,” I pleaded as I was slowly starting to fall apart. ”I am going to take you back to the pack house where we will get you seen too ok.” I told him, as I waited, hoping he would show or give me some sort of reply but I got nothing. I picked his unconscious body up carefully as I started walking back towards the pack house. I found it hard not to look at him, as his face had gone from his usual natural tanned skin to ghostly white. Moreover, the state of his body I could not believe it. There were deep gashes and chunks of his skin missing leaving teeth marks everywhere.

I had just reached the pack house where the other pack doctor was waiting for us. As I had already told him, we were on our way through our link. We entered the room the doctor had set up for him, as after all he is now the Alpha. The doctor took one look at him. I could tell just by the way he looked at him, it did not look good. “I am going to need some help here Alpha,” he said, as he started to clean some of his wounds. “I will help, just tell me what I have to do,” I replied, thankful of been able to help in any way possible. Then just as the doctor was instructing me on what he needed to do my beta came running in the room.        ”Sorry to trouble you Alpha Lucas, but we have a problem,” he informed me in a worried tone. I turned to the doctor, “I will send someone into help you, but please do everything in your power to save him” I pleaded with him, before leaving the room.

I ordered a couple of the younger men to help the doctor, as I desperately needed all our high rankers to guard the rogues we had captured. When I walked outside, I threw up at the site of the doctor that I had left with Ricardo. I felt my Alpha blood starting to heat up and flow through me, given me more strength and courage that I really needed right now.

The Doctor had been decapitated and the rest of his body wasn’t much better.” Take his body and have it rapped as we shall have him buried with the other pack members.” I ordered. One of the guards picked up his head from the floor while the other guard picked up his body.

I was outside shouting orders and trying to clear everything up along with making sure all the prisoners where securely locked up. However, I did not want to be out here doing all this alone. I wanted to be inside with the doctor helping Ricardo and I wanted Alpha Jackson back! I know I sound more like a baby then an Alpha right now but I do not care. I was thinking to myself. As right now, I felt so alone.

After about an hour, I managed to walk back into the room where the doctor was treating Ricardo. “Oh Alpha Lucas, am I glad to see you” the doctor greeted me with relief in his voice. “How is he?” I asked nervously. “Well to be honest with you alpha, he is starting to heel but it’s his heart beat I am worrying about.” He said with a confused faraway look. “Sorry doctor but what do you mean by that” I asked not really understanding what he was trying to say. ”Well It’s like one second it is beating uncontrollably and the next it goes so slow  like it is going to stop at any second, and I cannot find what is causing it.” He said it as he was trying to work something out in his head.

 We were both silent for a long time before I had to break the silence as it was making  go crazy as I was thinking too much. “Doctor Can you tell me if he has a good chance of living.” I asked, as I thought of my heavily pregnant sister waiting for her blue eyes as she calls him, I laughed to myself at her nick name for him.” I cannot tell you that right now”,” However if I could manage to get his heart beat regulated, then Ricardo would have a very strong chance of survival” he replied.

 For the rest of the night, the doctor and I sat watching Ricardo while the betas dealt with all other pack duties for me. However, we were in constant contact through the packs link so I could give orders when needed and check to make sure the pack was in no danger.

The doctor startled me by shouting, “Is his mate in hiding with the rest of the females?” He shouted out with a little excitement edged to it. “Yes” I replied, as I tried to see what he was trying to get at. That is when Ricardo’s body started to flinch and he began screaming out in pain. He was holding onto his stomach as he continued to scream. ”WHAT IS HAPPENING TO HIM?” I shouted at the doctor, as I started to panic.

Even though Ricardo was screaming, the doctor said, “He was still unconscious.” Ricardo was crying so hard but his eyes where still closed and it was scaring the hell out of me. “Alpha go get his mate now” the doctor ordered me, I would never in my life take an order but right now I did not care.  I quickly ordered the guards that were guarding the bunker to bring Alisa here. And then I contacted  Clarisse but her link was blocked, although I felt happy that she had done what I told her right now I wished she hadn’t  listen to  me.

 I quickly tried to contact her mum and luckily enough she answered. “The guard is at the entrance; let him in as we need Alisa to come here right now! as Ricardo isn’t looking to good.” I said so fast, I hope she understood me. I began thinking to myself just as she answered. ”Lucas, she is in labour and cannot be moved.” She replied.

 I could tell she was not telling me something, as I could feel through the link that she was struggling and I could hear her sobbing. That is when I realised she knew her mate had died (Alpha Jackson). I did not say another word as I needed her to stay strong not only for herself but for my sister too. I quickly told her and the guards I would get back to them soon as I needed to inform the doctor of Alisa’s state. “His mate is in labour “I told him, and for the first time all night the news I just gave he had put a massive smile on his face.” Lucas, that’s it we have it”, “Ricardo is going through her labour with her”. “He is going to be fine,” the doctor said while doing some stupid happy dance. I laughed at him as my body started to feel so relieved that he was going to make it.
