Chapter 13: TO FIGHT FOR YOU

Noirs POV

She's been sleeping for so long. Saph is currently laying in bed completely wiped out of energy. Thanatos visited earlier after our fight....

-FLASHBACK-

"So you finally admitted your feelings?" I glared the bone man and looked down at the girl in my arms. Burn marks were slowly healing around her face, neck, and arms. The exertion of power had wounded her. She was calm.... looking up at me with tired violet eyes.

"... sleep Saph.... please.... " looking up I addressed his question, "yes.... although I don't really know HOW exactly YOU know..."

"The fates tell me everything when it comes to Saphir.... and I knew of your feelings the moment I saw you drink from her in that hallway. You marked her without notice."

I felt my face get hot and looked down, Saph's eyes were closed, and she was grabbing on to my clothes with a vice grip.... her breath even and heavy I knew she had fallen asleep.

"Tell me why she didn't tell me she was engaged."

"Because she's NOT engaged.... Saphirs father wanted nothing to do with the boy.... not after what he did ..... and so he called it off. The child is possessive though, and has held on to the idea that he WILL marry her at all costs."

I looked up, hope making it's way into my being,

"So.... s..shes free to be courted?" I hated that I stuttered. The bone man smirked and nodded.

"IF she wants you to."

-END OF FLASHBACK-

The words ' if she wants you to' kept running across my mind. Her tent was quiet, everyone had gone to their own tents, exhausted from the day. We were to begin making our way to the border tomorrow. The war would start again.... until only one came out on top.

Just then Saph shook awake and looked up at me.

"... you know the drill Saph.... let me hear you...."

"... I.... I'm sorry.... f...for not t...telling you about him.... he meant and m..means nothing... but I just... couldn't cope with my only failure....."

Her eyes were watery, I had never seen her cry.... yet she still looked beautiful.... I just didn't like the tears.

"Don't cry.... I don't like it.... just.... focus on me?...."

Nodding she sat up,

"w... what is it you want to talk about?" I swallowed and looked away.

I wanted to tell her of my contract with her Master, to let her know why she would always feel shadows around her from now on, especially after I heard she was open to courting.... But I never felt as nervous as I did with Saph before.... not a single girl, not even Itami had silenced me this way before.... its now or never I would guess.

"If I was asked to protect you in a way.... would you let me?" I saw her widen her eyes, and she turned pink around the cheeks,

'That's still very...cute...' The inner would stare and softly smirk.

'please focus.' rolling its eyes it disappeared, Saph blinked and looked away.

"I... I am a being of destruction... what kind of protection would I need?" When she turned her determined eyes back at me I couldn't help but smirk. This was one feisty little angel, and I say little in every way, shes tiny but has big attitude.... God must be playing a joke on me....
