CHAPTER 17: ALEXS NEW ABILITY AND THE SEARCH FOR SAPHIR

Alex POV

These past few days on earth have been the best! I got to see my father, my friends... and I met someone.

I know that my ability to feel and see auras is a HUGE advantage, and to be quite honest the first few days I met him he was an A-class JERK. But we bonded over sports, his favorite being volleyball.

"HEY ALEX!!!" I blinked from thoughts and looked up, he was jogging my way, his gear still on. He stopped near me and sat his bag down, "Dude, why are you moping around sitting here? Is your tournament finished?" I had been thinking about that, he always had a way to know what I was thinking,

"Not really the tournament much, just on how I'm going to have to get home soon now that its over." He blinked and sat,

"To your dads house? Or back to your moms?" He didn't know I lived somewhere else... some other galaxy. "You've only been here what?... like a week?"

"No stupid i met you a week go, I've been here for longer. But Ill catch you later James, I need to go get ready." before I stood He grabbed my hand,

"Come by tomorrow?.. As a goodbye?" his blue eyes shined in the light of the afternoon, and I nodded after a second,

"Sure, say 6? I leave at 9 so it should be plenty of time."

"That sounds great Alex, Ill see you then!" with a peck on my cheek he jogged away with a smile on his face.

Today was going well, I found the portal that led back home, it took a map and some rock throwing to find it. In theory if I walked into it I would arrive back home.... Where was the question, but for precaution a brought my scout gear with me.... just in case I got stranded.

"Crap its almost 6... I need to go." I started making my way to J's house, he should be either waiting outside or waiting inside. Our little relationship was strange, its like I gravitated to him... like a moth to fire. Regardless, in less than a few days I was as comfortable with him as if I had known him for years.

"If you walk any more dazed you'll walk into something Al...." I yelped and noticed I had made it. He was sitting in his usual spot on the porch, a goofy grin on his face. "I'm glad you made it safe, did you finish packing or do you need any help?"

"That's funny, is that an excuse to see my underwear again?" He blushed and pushed me,

"YOU KNOW THAT WAS AN ACCIDENT! I was only trying to help you pack your gear... its not my fault your bag was a mess."

And that's how we spent most of the afternoon, just throwing jabs at each other. Its what made or relationship so easy, we didn't try to be more than what we were... no matter how confusing it was.

As it neared 8 we started to get ready for me to leave.

"Its easier if I just go and leave u here." he blinked and nodded, his eyes a little darker than before,

"You'll keep in touch right?... Texting... call... the whole 9 yards?" I smiled and nodded, "Cool, cuz I'm gonna miss you like crazy Al."

I smiled and softly kissed his cheek, " Ill see you soon, You'll see. Text you when I get home!" And with that I was off.

I didn't see him collapse after my kiss, or his cheek glow green. I didn't hear him fall to the floor. I just walked back to the portal and jumped.
