The Enemy of my Enemy

Chapter 7

The Team walked at a quick pace as they were making there way back towards the city. Ripple was silent as his thoughts churned with what to do next. 

"I'm really glad that we didn't run into any trouble!" Leo murmured with a content sigh. Ripple froze and let out a hiss. 

"You may wanna think again!" a voice cooed. 

"Oh, nice going Leo! You jinxed us!" Kai snapped. Leo looked around with confusion. 

"But I don't know what I did wrong?!" he mumbled. Ripple turned around to see two other ponies standing behind them. One was a male. His fur was gray and he wore a black sweatshirt. Ripple stared at him and his ice blue eyes locked onto him. Ripple took a step backwards. The other pony was a female. She had fairy-like wings, a smokey tail and a moon collar. Her pink colors made her look very kind. They started to approach. 

"Come with us or we'll have to take you by force," the male growled. 

"No way!" Toxy spat. 

"Who are you?" Lucien asked over Toxy's incoherent hissing.

"I am Fairy, the Co-lieutenant of the Arcane Alliance, and this is Ethan, but that's all you need to know."

And with that a bright light flashed before their eyes and Fairy shot forward at inpony speeds. Pain spiraled through Ripple's body as Fairy collided with his gut. Ripple flew backwards and crashed through the side of a nearby house in a billow of dust and smoke. 

"Ripple!" Pinkie shouted. 

"Come play with me!" Fairy shrieked in joy as she crashed into Kai. Kai let out a hiss as a crack resonated through the air. Kai was flung backwards and he hit the ground with a thud. 

"So pathetic!" Ethan chuckled. He walked forward and black smoke started to swirl around his legs. The smoke formed into two snakes. They hissed at the remaining ponies.

 Inside the house laid Ripple. Debris and stone were strewn around him. He had not seen that coming. He pulled himself up and dragged his pain filled body out of the large hole now in the small house. 

"You wanna play, huh? Then come at me!" Ripple shouted. Fairy turned his eyes to him and grinned happily. 

"Wonderful!" She giggled. She vanished from her spot and was beside Ripple in a single blink of the eye. The world turned into slow motion and Ripple's eyes widened as he saw her aiming for his face for a punch. Ripple grabbed her leg and kicked her flank. Fairy let out a faint gasp. 

Kai rolled over and groaned in pain. He looked up and saw Toxy charging into Ethan. A pink sword had appeared and she swung it towards Ethan. One of the snakes blocked it at the last second, but Kai saw a spurt of blood from his cheek. Ethan recoiled and Toxy turned around with a smug grin on her face. 

"You b-" Ethan began but was smacked in the head by Alex. 

"Where the hell do you keep getting brooms from?!" Allie questioned as she shot a small blast of light at Ethan. The gray pony fell to the ground with steam raising from his body. His snakes writhed around his body in anger. One of them flew at Allie and sliced her shoulder. She fell to the ground as a trickle of blood ran down her shoulder. Ethan rose to his hooves and turned to Toxy with an angry look in his eyes. The green haired pegasus stuck her tongue out of her mouth. Ethan snarled at ran at her but a flash of orange, green and gray ran in front of Toxy. Ethan's body slammed into a magic field and he was thrown backwards. Kai limped over to Lucien and looked up at the newcomer. 

"Avery!" Kai sputtered. The gray pony turned her pink eyes to Kai and grinned. 

"A-Avery!" Toxy stammered. Ethan staggered up and shook his head in disbelief. 

"The Organizations Elite warrior... Avery," Ethan scoffed. Avery flapped her wings and a wooden staff appeared in front of her. 

"Oh, Mighty Amon, lend me your power and merge with me! Give me your strength!" Flames engulfed her and she hissed at Ethan. 

"Let's go!" Avery shouted as she charged at him. 

Meanwhile, Ripple was being beaten relentlessly by Fairy. She was always in a different place every second. She was too fast. Ripple fell to the ground as he was kicked across the back. He slammed his hoof into her leg and she fell into the ground. Kai, Lucien, and Pinkie ran over. Lucien tackled Fairy to the ground but she threw him over her head and he landed on his side with a heavy gasp. 

"Lucien!" Kai hissed and turned back to Fairy. Suddenly, the ground began to shake and Ripple fell sideways as the ground began to crack. It splintered and began to rise up in random sections. Fairy leaped onto one of the rocks and looked down. 

"Come on!" She laughed and started to jump from one rock to the next. Pinkie opened her wings and took off after her like a bullet. Ripple clambered onto the rocks and jumped after Fairy. 

Toxy hefted her sword and ran after Avery. The two attacked simultaneously. Avery jabbed at Ethan with her flaming knife and Toxy swung her sword at him. Ethan moved backwards slowly as his snakes hissed. Each attack was deflected, yet Avery could see him being drained of his energy. Alexander stood in the middle of the battle and watched as one of the black snakes slithered towards Avery. The brown pony's eyes widened and he ran after it. He stomped on it but it thrashed around, trying to bite him. 

"Oh no you don't!" He hissed. The snake's eyes glinted and then it vanished in a wisp of smoke. Alexander hissed when he saw Allie get bitten by one of the snakes. After the snake's jaws bit into her it vanished.  Allie let out a howl of agony and she went limp except for the occasional rise and fall of her chest. 

"Allie!" Alexander called out and ran over to her. She was still alive, just unconscious. This battle wasn't going well at all.
