The Enemy of my Enemy

Chapter 12

"Be prepared to die!" Fairy spat as she lunged forward and grabbed Kai who was just now trying to stand up. He was knocked sideways and his head slammed into the asphalt with a thud. Ripple could hear a soft sob come from Kai as thick, black blood oozed from his head. 

"Kai!?" Ripple questioned. 

"I-I can't see straight," Kai said. Ripple looked at his hooves and grimaced. 

"Shit..." 

Ripple's hooves were snatched out from under him by a vine and the back of his head hit the ground. Tears welled in his eyes as pain pulsed through his head. The vines lifted him up but Allie staggered forward and clamped her jaws around the vine. Starting from her mouth, the vines shriveled up, turning black and brown, before vanishing into dust. Ripple fell to the ground with a thump. Mason hissed. Allie ran towards Mason and grabbed him. Allie was weaker than Mason, strength wise, but not power wise. Where her hooves were touching his chest, grew blackened patches of his fur. Mason kicked her away and let out a cry of pain as his fur was ripped away by the darkness to reveal raw skin. 

"What the hell did you do to me?" Mason shouted in anger. He put up several trees and vines around him as a barrier. Allie slammed into it and vines and trees started to wither like the were play-doh falling apart. Fairy fluttered her wings and knocked Lucien onto his side to prevent him from helping Allie. 

"Lucien! Allie! Avery! Hold them off! Kai and I are going to start our plan and save Pinkie and Toxy!" Ripple shouted, though his voice held a tenderness to it. Tears ran down his cheeks as his head throbbed relentlessly. 

"Are you going to be ok?" Avery asked quietly. Ripple merely nodded, pulled Kai to his hooves and they took off at a staggering run. Behind them, Allie tore through the plants protecting Mason and she punched him quite hard. Where her hoof connected with his face, the fur, yet again, started to crumble away to reveal the skin beneath it. Avery and Lucien stood in front of Alex, who was on the ground writhing in pain from where he had been stabbed. Fairy shot around them like a bullet, knocking them upside the heads and grabbing them. Lucien kicked her in the face, though. Ripple scrambled around the corner and ran towards the large cylinder-like building up ahead. Ripple and Kai closed in and they crouched behind a large shrub. Ripple turned to Kai. 

"Is your head ok? I've never heard you cry like that before," Ripple said, poking fun at him. Kai scrunched his nose up in displeasure. 

"You cried too, so don't go pointing fun at me," Kai sneered. Ripple sighed and peeked over the bush. Guards surrounded the entire building like a circular field of death. 

"C'mon," Kai said. He grabbed something shiny, and at the last moment I knew what it was. The same type of exploding knife he'd used in our fight way back when, and a few days ago. Kai flung it as hard as he could and the entire left flank of the building's guards went into the air like toys. 

"Woah.." Ripple coughed. 

"Let's go," Kai hissed and he bolted out of the bush at full speed. Ripple looked around before running after him. Just running made the pain in his head increase and Ripple felt like curling up and crying. 

"Plagg!" Ripple shouted. A blue light filled his vision and then the small, black, Chariilden appeared. He flapped his wings like crazy just to keep up with Ripple. 

"You know the plan, little buddy!" Ripple said and Plagg have him a small head nod. They reached the side of the building and Ripple used his magic to create a sledgehammer. He slammed it into the side of the building while Kai fought off the guards that were rushing them. Soon enough there was a hole just big enough for Plagg to slip through. 

"Go, and make sure you stay hidden," Ripple whispered. Plagg squeezed his body through the gap and vanished into the darkness. Ripple spun around and noticed that the guards were beginning to overtake Kai. Ripple blasted a few of them in the face and then Kai threw another one of his shiny blow up thingies and the crowd of guards was destroyed. Multiple of the ponies went flying through the air. Good thing most of them were mere unicorns. 

Allie slammed her hoof into Mason and he flew back. Most of his body was crumbled away and he now had multiple patches of pink skin showing. Mason had the most menacing look in his eyes, but he wasn't able to get close enough to attack Allie. Fairy flung herself at Allie and they tumbled to the ground. Allie took Fairy by her stomach and held her in front of her as a shield. Fairy tried to squirm free. Lucien and Leo rushed at Mason and held him down. He struggled to use his powers but Lucien blocked them. 

"Hahah!" Lucien spat. 

"I hope Ripple and Kai are fairing as well as we are," Allie murmured. 

Ripple flung a soldier off of him and kicked another. Kai looked up and let out a gasp. Above them stood a black pony with red and white hair. His eyes were red and he glared down from where he hovered. Ripple backed away and felt some sort of invisible force throw him to the ground. The force grabbed his throat and Ripple thrashed around, trying to breath. Kai was in the same boat as him. 

"G-get off of m-me," Ripple choked out. The pony above them merely watched with a satisfied glint in his eyes. His red and white hair blew in the wind and the ground cracked beneath Ripple as the force pressed harder against him. Ripple's vision became blurry and he looked up at the pony above him. Ripple was able to catch one word. 

"Die."
