Mason stood up shakily, hissing and spitting at everyone around him. Fairy struggling underneath the mounds of duct tape they had used to subdue her.
"You will all perish when our leader rises!" she screeched.
"Ripple and Kai should've been back by now," Pinkie said worredily. Toxy and Alex nodded in agreement. Mason shook in fury and snapped at them.
"Come on," Lucien said, walking towards the old building at the edge of the city.
"Woah woah woah! Wait! You're just gonna leave us here?!" Fairy cried out.
"Indeed we are," Toxy sneered, obviously agitated and jittery from their recent escape. Pinkie and Allie followed after Lucien, Alex and Toxy behind them.
"Dont leave us here you scum!" Mason spat as they walked away. Fairy growled and fell onto her back, still struggling to escape the tape.
"So... how did you guys escape?" Alex asked, looking from Pinkie then to Toxy.
"Hahaha I pulled the whole 'I gotta pee' trick. Those guards were total dummies," Toxy said, snickering.
"And they opened the cage, we took them down and then unlocked the other cages. This way, it was a riot!" Pinkie added with quite a bit of enthusiasm. Alex nodded.
"Did I mention we did it by our selves?" Toxy asked, drawling out the last part. Alex narrowed his eyes.
"I could tell you did it yourselves," he said, the annoyance clear in his voice. Toxy went silent after that, slinking up next to Lucien to get away from Alex. As they neared the building, the smell of burning things hit them like a punch in the face.
"Ew, it smells like burning flesh," Allie gagged. There was a giant hole in the ground and everything around it was charred, including the guards that were outside. Toxy stuck her tongue out, scrunching up her nose.
"That's disgusting!" she hissed, stepping over a burnt body. Lucien pointed.
"There they are!" he said, now running very carefully across the field over to the unconscious bodies of Ripple and Kai.
"Oh thank the gods they're still breathing!" Pinkie gasped out, noticing the steady rise and fall of their flanks.
"It looks just like it did when we last fought Fairy..." Alexander said, studying the distruction and the hall. He leaned over the crater, smoke still rolling out of it.
"Hey, there's someone down there..."
Allie slid down the side of the crater, Toxy and Lucien beside her. She crept over to the body. It was the mangled body of Torque. Blood oozed out of several deep gashes and his back legs were bent and twisted unnaturally. Allie looked away at the sight, nearly hurling. Torque let out a groan.
"Who's there...?"
"No one," Toxy said, still studying the broken body, wondering how in the hell he was still alive. Torque slowly rolled onto his back, tears of agony streaming down his face.
"Please kill me," he begged. Toxy tilted her head. He gasped out a bit, "KILL ME!"
"W-What... ok...?" she said, inching forward a bit more.
"Put me out of my misery!" he shouted at Toxy impatiently.
"Gladly," someone said from above. Ripple had awoken, staring down at Torque with rage-filled eyes. He slid down the side, stumbling at the bottom and swaying a bit.
"You nearly killed me, it's only fair I get to kill you," he hissed. Allie backed away, eyes wide. Pinkie and Alex watched from above, Kai standing beside them. With that, a gun appeared and Ripple shot Torque through the head. Torque then went still, blood starting to gush out of his head from the new wound. The gun vanished.
"And we're done here," he muttered, turning away. Toxy stared at him but then shook her head to clear her thoughts. As Ripple walked away, he staggered and fell to ground, losing consciousness again. Toxy grunted and helped Allie carry him back to the surface.
"We need to get back... let's go," Kai muttered. Lucien nodded and helped the others carry Ripple. They hurried down the charred field and back into town. They passed the spot where Fairy and Mason were... or used to be. Fairy and Mason were both gone, the tape shed on the ground.
"Welp..." Pinkie said, looking at the tape. They rushed on, making good time. They reached the agency after a few more minutes and walked down the long hallways into the Healing Halls. Loopy opened the door, a deep frown set on her face.
"Can you help Ripple?" Toxy asked, showing her Ripple as if she couldn't see him. Loopy grunted.
"Of course I can," she said. She stepped away from the door and allowed them in. They set Ripple on a bed.
"Kai.. what happened?" Pinkie asked, swinging her head around to look at Kai. Kai sat down and shook his head a bit.
"The guy that Ripple shot tried to kill us," Kai said bluntly. Pinkie leaned forward, eyes wide.
"Go on," she said. Kai studied her face, frowning.
"Ripple and I managed to use that weird power... I don't know how we did it though..." Kai said, his frown deepening. Pinkie stepped back a bit, her eyes drifting over to Ripple. Toxy looked thoughtful.
"Maybe it happens when you guys feel like you're in danger?" she said. Kai looked at her, eyes widening a bit.
"That could, quite possibly, be it! Whenever we did it in the training fields we couldn't do it... was that because there was no danger present?" Kai said, mostly to himself though. He tapped his hoof on the floor repeatedly. The others were silent as he did so.
"That has to be it," Alex said, watching Kai with a steady gaze. Kai nodded.
"I guess that settles it... anyway, let's wait for Ripple to wake up and then we can plan what we're gonna do next," Lucien said, his eyes settling on each pony in turn. They nodded in agreement. They soon filed out of the small healing room, talking quietly among eachother. But what could the Alliance possibly want? And the leader? Who was their leader? Kai shook his head and followed the others out, his thoughts racing faster and faster.
