VIOLET
"YOU can't just fight with him forever." Adore says as throws a basketball up and down at the ceiling.
I whip my head around from the mirror in the corner of Adore's room, "Yes I can," I look back at the mirror, "And anyways, it's not your business."
"What did he do that made you so pissed?"
I finally put my comb down and look away from the mirror, "Look it doesn't matter what he did or didn't do. He's just acting like a child."
"You kicked him out of your house." Adore snaps.
"He had to leave sometime Adore, I couldn't just let him mooch off my parents for the rest of high school."
Adore doesn't say a word. He keeps throwing the basketball up and down until I decide it's time to go. I decide a cup of coffee might cool me down.
I swing the glass door of the coffee shop open and hear little chimes hitting against the door. That same coffee shop is the one I met Pearl at.
Once I get my coffee I sit down at a table for two. Five minutes go by as I notice someone out of the corner of my eye. He's there watching, staring. I look back to see Pearl standing behind the counter with some other baristas.
Once he notices I'm looking he shakes his head and turns away. I swallow my pride and get up from my seat, leaving my coffee.
"Come outside, Pearl."
Pearl clears his throat and looks at me wide eyed, "What?"
I grab his hand and tug him outside.
"Violet I need to go inside."
I cross my arms impatiently, "Why?"
"Violet my shift isn't over." He whines.
As I'm about to speak I hear a faint noise catch my attention. I grab his hands and drag him closer and closer to the noise. A rugged band of street performers surrounded by a crowd of pedestrians. Everyone's dancing and enjoying the music besides Pearl.
"Come on," I motion him towards me as I sway my hips to the music going closer to the crowd of dancers.
He mouths no.
I nod yes as I keep dancing.
He puts his hands on his hips as he watches me and everyone else dance. After a minute or two he gives in, smiling as he comes closer.
I realize there's no reason to be mad at Pearl. We were both at fault. This whole situation could be put behind us if we could act like mature humans. I love Pearl, and I don't think I will ever stop loving Pearl. Hopefully he feels the same way.
"What are you thinking about?" Pearl asks me as he dances.
I smile, "Nothing."
He digs his face into my shoulder before looking up and kissing me.
"I love you."
At least that's what I wish happened. That's when I wake up to the truth that we're still broken up.
