I'M a man of my word, I always keep my promises. And I kept this one. This particular promise was very important to me, not like the rest.

I texted Violet to meet me on top of my apartment building. I want him to come an hour early. I have music in the background with a blanket laid out. It's not a date, I just wanted to impress him. Does he even think of me that way? I don't know.

I get a text from Violet.

Hey, I'm going to be late. I will be there in an hour or so, something came up.

I stare at the text message for about a minute before delving deep into my pocket to put my phone away. I puff out my cheeks then let all the air escape my lips. "Well, I have some time to kill, might as well catch up on sleep." I say to myself as I lay on the blanket. I don't want to go home.

I haven't slept much, I can't sleep, it hurts. It hurts to be awake too. I rest my head in my hands and stare at the sky, falling asleep.

Before me stands a blurry figure. The silhouette is familiar, it's Violet. It's all a red haze until I start waking up.

I prop up on my elbows, still laying on my back, "Oh hey, I just kinda...fell asleep while you were gone."

He reaches his hand out for me to take it, offering to help me up. I decline, he's not very strong. He'd tumble along with me trying to pick me up.

"Why were you sleeping out here?"

I'm not gonna tell him the real answer, not yet. So I just made up a lie, "Because you don't know my apartment number so you wouldn't find me?" That was the shittiest excuse ever, I'm a horrible liar. It always ends up coming out as a question. I'm still laying on the ground looking at his tall and slim figure.

"Well, what are you waiting for? The sun's going down." He says.

"Right." I get up brushing myself off and fixing my hair.

We sit down near the ledge, Frank Ocean plays in the background.

We end our day up on the roof
I say I'll jump, I never do
But when I'm drunk I act a fool
Talking bout, do they sew wings on tailored suits
I'm on that ledge, she grabs my arm
She slaps my head
It's good times, yeah

Purples, pinks, and yellows pile on top of each other creating a sunset. I look over to Violet and his eyes are glowing with happiness. The sunset illuminates his skin giving it a purplish glow.
