Sympathetic glances. Hand holding. And not so secretive mouthing.

Bleh.

I hated new couples.

Just kidding. That wasn't the case at all.

What I did manage to roll my eyes at was how wary Julia was in leaving her new boyfriend alone to us. We really didn't bite.

Well... at least not too hard.

And oftentimes our bark was worse than our bite.

"I promise I'll be back in an hour. I'm so sorry about this... My friends are so annoying." Julia bit her lip as she nervously glanced at Alex, Sabrina, me, and then to her new boy-toy that sadly wasn't named Troy.

"It's, okay. I got thissss. No worries, babe." He confidently waves off and underestimates our toughness.

"Yeah, you heard Casanova, Jules. Chill out. If he's a real one, he'll be fine. Trust."

Julia glares daggers at Alex, and Alex shrugs, unapologetic of her words. Jules knew what our tradition as a group had always been. I don't know why she expected special treatment for Merritt.

The boyfriend (or girlfriend in Alex's case) initiation ceremony was nothing new. Either he or she was worthy in the sisterhood's eyes or not. Simple as that.

Sabrina gave a small push to unconvinced Julia out the door.

"Remember this is for the best, Jules," she reassured her and then quickly locked the door before Jules' reflexes could have any say on the matter.

Sabrina then went on to take extra precautions by closing the blinds on the closest window.

Merritt quirks an eyebrow. He really had no idea what was in store for him. The initiation ceremony that we had, though not as physically torturing or gruesome, could be compared to a hazing. Nothing illegal but definitely scary for the wrong types of guys that my friends had sometimes fallen for. Only the worthy guys with some merit, no pun intended, passed while maintaining their sanity.

"Was formal attire really necessary?" Merritt asks, questioning the sisterhood as Sabrina walked back to regroup with us.

"We like to see how well you clean up. Plus, we prefer to interview you when you look and feel the best. Getting dappered up is an advantage for you, trust me. We're hard to impress. You need every ounce of dignity to face this. Looking sharp is only an asset to you, believe us," I elaborate.
