Zoey's POV

Leigh leads me over to the bed Chloe is rested on. Element holds her up, holding her on his lap with his arms around her. He looks up at me, eyes shimmering. I realize then that he's crying. Sadness hits me in a landslide of emotion and I go over to my sister's side. She looks hurt so bad. And that's when I see a deep, bloody gash in her stomach. It looks so awful, like there's a whole in her.

And the blood. There is so much blood that covers her entire, thin body. Her eyes are closed and her sweet face is paler than natural, pale to the point of being gray.

"Element. She needs blood."

I turn just as Nyx and an extremely hideous man come in. The man's deep, raspy matches his tattered clothes and face. He looks like an old man, and his eyes are a deep brown. He looks at me and chuckles, shaking his head and making his matted, curly gray hair fall in his face.

"I am Vulcan,"  the ugly man says.

I just nod and see Element slash open his arm with one fingernail. He then places his arm against her mouth, and forces her to drink.

"She is gravely injured. Blood of an immortal will only help, it will not fully save her," Element says in a sad voice.

I walk over and place my hands over her imjury. I can feel Nyx, Vulcan, Artemis, and Hecate staring intently at me. I find some way to ignore them and stare at Chloe, making me only see my injured Twin. I need to save her. I have no choice, I need to save her. I can't live without her.

Suddenly, my hands warm up and I flip them over so I can see as intricate swirls burn onto my palms of both hands that resemble flames. I gasp at the flames, realizing they look like the same sapphire as my crescent moon. But that's when the blue changes and I gasp as sapphire is overrun with red.

"Your Mark has changed!" Element exclaims.

"What?" I ask in shock.

"The tattoos on your face, they aren't blue, they're the color of blood."

I set aside my shock and put my hands palm down over Chloe's wound. There's a flash of light and something that reminds me of lightning and candle light flows into the gaping hole in my sister's chest and stomach. As I do this, the blue intricate knotwork all over her face and around the crescent moon on her forehead all turn red.

"You were broken children. The red Marks mean that the two of you have been mended, you were once broken, handicapped by mental illness, but now you're healed. Aren't they, Nyx?" Hecate says knowingly.

"Yes," Nyx says slowly.

I stare as Chloe sits up and gasps.

"Wow. That's a lotta blood. Was that from me?" she asks.

"Yeah. But your sister and I saved you, but mostly her," Element explains.

She looks at me and gasps. "Your Marks! They're red!"

"So are yours," Leigh says, standing beside me.

"Leigh! You're okay too!"

"Yes. Thanks to Vulcan, Aphrodite, and Amphitrite," Leigh says.

"So, we are red vamps now?" Chloe asks.

"Yep," I say, looking at Leigh. Her filled-in crescent is the only Mark on her face, and it too is red like ours, but it always was.

"You control fire. It is up to Chloe and Leigh-Anne to discover their powers," Nyx explains.

"I Gifted the three of you as well. You will find out your powers soon enough," Hecate says.

"So, what happens next?" Leigh asks.

"That is up to you," Nyx says.
