Chapter 6- Pale

*KEITH'S POV*

The aroma of charcoal under a grill and the sweet taste of red, white, and blue margarita beautifully coated my tongue.

"So you are just allowed to drink alcohol in front of all these people?" Finn questioned.

"We're all british, we don't care." I shrugged, Millie walked over with some chips on a plate, and she sat down on the prickly grass next to Finn.

"Sometimes I don't understand why we celebrate July 4th. I mean we are british." Millie argued waving her chip in her hand, causing Finn to take a bite.

"Did you just eat my chip?" She pouted.

"It's a french fry, and yes I did. That's for insulting my country and July 4th." Finn smirked at her and they smiled at each other flirtatiously which made me wanna gag.

"You do realize that the British were the ones who made this your country." I interrupted their lovely gaze with each other, "By the way, are you sure you guys aren't like dating because your eye humping is making me quite uncomfortable."

"Oh quit it, Chance. Finn and I are just really good friends." She smiled at him.

"This is gross, I'm going to socialize with Carmen and Alice. See you at the roof later." I winked. Carmen and Alice, were twins that Millie and I grew up with in our old neighborhood. They don't live in America like we do, but they flew over here just to see everyone.

"What's up, Lad?" I high-fived Carmen.

"I see you've been hanging out with Millie." I noticed him checking her up and down.

"Don't even try, she's practically in love with that guy. His name is Finn, nice kid but I don't think he likes me." I chuckled.

"She looks..more mature." He gulped.

"Dude you're such a perv, she's still 16. But one thing I can admit is that she does look very amazing." We both eyed Millie, until I felt a weight jump on my back.

"Keith!" Alice squealed.

"..Alice." I rolled my eyes, last year I went back to Liverpool to be with my mum for the summer and Alice was basically all over me. She was a sweet, bubbly girl that I was once interested in but her jealousy in Millie brought the worst out of her and it wasn't attractive.

"Alice, can you like go exist somewhere else?" Carmen bickered with her.

"Is that Millie?" She hopped off my back and glared at her. Millie noticed Carmen and Alice having eye contact with her and she dragged Finn over.

"Alice, Carmen! Sorry I couldn't find you." Millie smiled.

"Hey Mills." Carmen shyly smiled at her.

"Who's your friend, Millie?" Alice fake smiled.

"Oh this is Finn. One of my best friends." Finn awkwardly waved.

"Bad idea, Brown. Bad idea." I whispered into Millie's ear.

"Um why?" She whispered back.

"Because Alice hates you and she is going to try to steal your man." I mumbled.

"Oh." She cursed under her breath, "Crap."

"Finn is such an adorable name." She pulled on his collar and checked him out, "You're coming with me, pretty boy." She smirked.

"Um..Millie. Where is she taking me?" Finn whimpered.

"Whatever you do, don't resist her grip and don't look her straight in the eyes." I patted Finn on the back.
"Wha- I don't understand." Alice tugged him behind the house.

"Poor lad." Carmen awkwardly rubbed the back of his neck.

"I don't think he will ever be able to leave under her evil spell." Millie rolled her eyes, "So what's up Carmen?" She smiled.

"Nothing much, I am just trying to look for colleges to go to." He seemed distracted, probably embarrassed at what his sister just did. Finn shortly ran back to Millie, looking dumbfounded.

"Finn, are you okay?" She put her hand on his cheek, he refused eye contact with her.

*FINN'S POV*

"Finn, are you okay?" Millie put both of her arm hands on my cheek and tried to have eye contact with me.

"Mills, we need to talk alone." I rubbed the back of my neck.

"That girl..just kissed me. ANDIPROMISEIWASN'TINTOITBECAUSEILIKEYOU." I spat out.

"Sweetie, it's okay. She's hot, you are allowed to be into it." She pulled me in closer, "I know you like me." She smiled.

"Mills, I am so sorry." I slapped my palm onto my forehead.

"You're cute." She pinched my cheeks, "But it's okay. I am not mad at you, I probably just have to fight her." She ruffled her fingers through my almost black, wavy hair.

"You'll fight her?" I questioned.

"Yeah, she tried to steal my man." She winked.

"I'm your man?" I smiled a bit, "Wait, Mills you are really confusing me because earlier today you said that you just played me and you didn't like me and now I don't know what's going on."

"Finn, I know. I'm so sorry. I like you, I really like you. I don't know what has gotten into me, I took the the confidence to a whole another level and I made a lie out of myself. I'm sorry." She mumbled, "Oh god, you probably think I am some bipolar crazy chick with weird british friends that have no manners. And now, I am rambling. Crap." I ignored her long and quick comment with smashing my lips against hers, her fingers crept up my neck and she tugged on my hair. Making me blush intensely. The kiss felt like an insane amount of hours, almost like eternity but it was a good 10 seconds of lip locking.

"Wow." She took a breath, almost in shock, "Whoever taught you to kiss like that, bless them." She giggled, giving me multiple pecks on the mouth, I couldn't get enough of her.

"You fucking complete me Millie Bobby Brown." My gaze met her beautiful milk brown eyes, I wanted her all to myself.

"Finn..I-i have no idea how I ever second guessed my feelings for you. I might have been through my phases, but I love you, I freaking love you." She looked into my eyes waiting for my response, those words. Those words slipped out of Millie's mouth like silk, and I never heard those words being said to me in the years I have been on this earth. I love you. Something I never imagined I would see or hear myself saying to anyone. But it felt okay, I was always so scared of those words but when I heard it come out of my best friend's mouth, when I heard it come out of Millie's mouth, I felt safe. And I wanted her to feel safe too.

"I love you more." I smiled at her lip, kissing her one last time, letting it linger with a beautiful harmony. Surprisingly, for once I didn't want to hide my feelings. Neither did she. For once we weren't confused of who we were. Sometimes we were dangerous and sometimes we kept each other safe. Everything in this past week has been a buttload of dangerous and feeling sad, angry, confused, but, we protected each other. We kept each other tame.
