"How is this possible??" Mycroft asked, with a look of utter confusion on his face.

"Oh come on Mycroft, you know how babies are created and born. Or do you still need another lesson? I forgot you were never very good at listening to Mummy and Father much..." Sherlock teased.

"Shut up Sherlock. This is not a joking matter." Mycroft replied with clear anger in his voice. I stood there in silence for what seemed like forever while these two bickered and it was then that I realized what my mom had been talking about when she told me they didnt get along. They really didn't. Its a wonder how their parents had even stood them growing up.

Just then, my father turned to face me, which for some reason made me very nervous. That was a terribly odd feeling for me, especially because he wasnt very intimidating. Even still, a knot had started to grow in the pit of my stomach as I tried my hardest to ignore it.

"Umm..so..uh..yeah..hi...er, I'm your daughter" I managed to stutter. "Why did I stutter!? I never stutter! Dammit Sadie stop stuttering!" I thought. What was it about him that made me nervous? Maybe it was the fact that he was my father and I was somehow hoping he wouldnt be disappointed in the fact that I was his daughter. I mean yeah, sentiment is a chemical defect but...he is my dad afterall.

He moved close to me and I couldve sworn the world stopped for a minute. I gave him my best attempt at an intimidating gaze, but I'm pretty sure he saw right through it. What he did next I was not prepared for at all and it left me a bit awestruck. He hugged me.

He wrapped his stiff professional arms around me and I stood there stiff as a board, as if that didnt make it even more awkward. "Do something Sadie! HUG HIM BACK!" my conscience demanded, and so I did. I hugged my father. For the first time in my life and it felt...nice. Awkward, a bit weird most definitely, but nice nonetheless. I think we both were thinking too much because after a few moments Sherlock had to clear his throat. We pulled away and straightened ourselves out and each cleared our throat as if that would help thin the thick sense of uneasiness in the air.

"So you're my daughter then..?"

"Yes...of course."

"Right then."

"Yup..."

"And your mother..?"

"She's good."

"Good.."

Just then Sherlock broke the chain of hesitant conversation. "Ooookayyy. Well nice to see you brother dearest, but she and I should really be getting home. I expect we will work cases together from now on with John too, so you'll see her again."

"Sherlock, John has taking a liking to a certain lady friend, I'm assuming you didn’t notice, like always, but he may not be around as often." Mycroft smirked.

"Then I guess it's a good thing I have my niece to assist me huh?" Sherlock smirks back and we both exit the room, myself looking over my shoulder to see my Dad standing there dumbstruck.
