When we reached Baker Street, Sherlock, Mrs. Hudson, and John all got washed up and properly treated from the ailments Moriarty and Sebastian had caused. John had asked me plenty of times if I was alright or if I wanted anything, to which each time I replied with either a simple "no" or an annoyed glance as he kept repeating himself.
We all spoke and they asked me questions about my life and blah, blah, blah. I hate chit chat, and I could see that Sherlock was not enthused either. Soon after, Mrs. Hudson went back downstairs to her flat and John casually read the newspaper in his chair. It was so weird that they were acting as if nothing had happened when in reality, Moriarty will strike again and it could be at any time. Sherlock assured me that he will deal with Moriarty and he promised me that he would not let any harm come to me, to which I casually reminded him that I would be fine.
"I can take care of myself, Sherlock. I think I pretty much proved it to you. Oh, and I swear if you tell my mother about this you are going to have to deal with a very pissed off teenager."
"No worries, I'm not telling your mother anything. I don't even really know the woman. I probably met her once way back when, but if I've ever known her... well I've deleted it. And I know exactly how you are when you're upset because you get the way I do. You see, what I've deduced about you is that you're pretty much the same as me but still lost in ways I once was. Therefore, I know how you react to things, because you react the way I do. But you don't know what to do with your superiority unlike me."
From the background, John mumbled something along the lines of "Yeah, it seems the only thing he doesn't know is modesty."
"Oh yeah, your odd brain trick. It's called your mind palace" I stated blatantly.
Sherlock chuckled and I gave him an odd look.
"Yes. It is. I'll teach you sometime. I laughed because anyone else would have asked that as a question instead of stating it as a known fact, even though they already knew the answer would have been yes."
"Explain."
"Well you said "It's called your mind palace" as a statement, while anybody else, including John here would have said "Oh yeah, it's called your mind palace or something, right?" I'm impressed with you Sadie."
I smirked slightly. "Oh, thanks. I guess I just don't like wasting my time asking obvoius questions."
He chuckled again. "I think it's time to pay my obnoxious elder brother a surprise visit." He raised his eyebrow at me and I sighed.
"Alright, let's get this over with. I already know he doesn't care so it's not worth dragging it out any longer."
Sherlock forced John to accompany us. He said that John helped him not to be so harsh with my father, but I think he just wants to watch over him so nothing bad happens to him again. We took a dull ten minute cab ride to a place called "The Diogenes Club", and I stepped out of the cab as Sherlock paid the cabbie.
Holy crap this building was big. I mean, yes he holds a large position of the government so this was to be expected, but still. Impressive.
We took a long silent walk inside the building until we reached a secretary. She recognized Sherlock and let us have access quite quickly. Sherlock opened the door to my father's office, and he was staring out the window holding an umbrella.
"Yes, Sherlock, what do you want? Come in, enlighten me", he said sarcastically without turning around.
"Oh, you'll be enlightened alright." he snarked back quite gleefully. "The man who knows everything about everyone, yet missed the most important piece of his puzzle."
He chuckled from the window. "And what might that be Sherlock?"
"Turn around and see for yourself dear brother. I think you may see a familiar face."
Mycroft slowly turned around and his focus rested on me. I saw confusion, realization, sadness, irritation, and utter obliviousness flicker across his eyes. After a few moments, he finally opened his mouth to speak.
