Angel was arranging a vase of yellow daffodils that she happened upon in the greenhouse she found behind the house yesterday morning. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Julia studying her from the corner of the sofa where she stood. "Do you want to help me make a bouquet of flowers for someone I'm going to visit this afternoon, sweetie?" Julia was silent for a moment, but then she nodded slowly and approached her. "Mamma? Do you love my papa? And will you love and embrace us as you do for Cameron?" Angel paused, then she put the last flower on the table, she bent down on the floor and pulled Julia into her arms. She could feel her stiffen, but then Angel smiled within when she felt Julia relax and leaned into to her further. Angel pulled back and kissed her on the forehead, "My darling, to answer your first question, I love your father with my whole heart. I know that I wouldn't be able to replace your mother, but if you give me a chance, I'll love you and Andrew and Sophie and James just as much as I love Cameron. If you want Julia, we can be friends, we'll even have our own secret signal, something the boys won't know. Not even your father will know it, it will be our little secret."
Julia was stunned, that this new woman that her father had re-married had such a BIG heart. Her friends always told her that she shouldn't expect much from a stepmother since stepmothers were vain and selfish people, who didn't give a fig about their new step-children, obsessively her friends were wrong. She wondered if she should give her trust and love to this woman. She could see that her papa loves her so much since she would see him embracing and kissing her whenever she saw them. "Where are you going this afternoon? And why are you bringing flowers?" Julia asked after she saw her stepmother finish placing the last flower in the bouquet. Angel smiled down at her, "I will be visiting someone who just lost her husband and I thought I could visit her and bring her some comfort, would you like to accompany me?"
Julia nodded and hugged Angel again.
