Lord Sokorri stared at his wife's manservant, wondering why he hasn't seen him within his house for the last two days. He could remember him being by his wife's side even before he married her. He was curious as to why he wasn't by her side anymore. "So tell me, Abe. Why haven't you been by Irene's side lately?"
Abe stared at his ex-employer and shrugged his shoulders. "I have decided my Lord, that her ladyship doesn't need my services any longer, as she is perfectly capable of accomplishing the tasks she set out to do."
"And what tasks are those, that you have no wish to help her achieve? Didn't you say that she saved your life as a lad, and that's why you were so loyal to her? Isn't that what you said to me on the day after I wedded her? Help me understand why your loyalties have changed!" "BOY!" Abe was annoyed that his Lordship still addressed him as 'BOY,' whenever he was annoyed with him; but he didn't let it get to him.
"Did you know, that your wife had a daughter in her previous marriage? And that said daughter went insane? How about that you have grandchildren from her side now that you married to her? Or have you ever wondered why you have never really had any serious competition whenever you wanted a bill passed in Parliament? Your wife has been controlling you from the very beginning, M'lord. Every time you came across opposition, they were eliminated by either my hand because I was ordered by her to take a life; or by her, using her favorite method. Which was poison!"
Noah Sokorri, was insulted, to think that Abe thought that he didn't know his wife! Or that he made him sound like a wimp and a weakling who was being led by leading strings by Irene. Of course, he knew about what Irene was up to, he always had. Because after the first time that he had an opposition with Lord Strum's brother in the first time he was trying to get his bill passed, Lord Isaiah Strum was mysteriously murdered by an unknown assailant. So very secretively, he had a bow street runner make inquiries about Irene. In the last thirty years of their marriage, he has noticed that Irene's been acting a little strange. And that she has become unhinged as of late! He was even considering admitting her to a mental institution! But to do that he needed to possess solid proof, of which he didn't have any.
"Is there anything else you wish to tell me about Irene's latest dealings; Abe?" Abe sighed heavily. He might as well tell him everything if he wanted to get everything off his chest as well as to start a new life. "Do you happen to remember the incident with Lord Tyler Steele's first wife? How she died?" Noah gave him the 'was it really her' stare. Abe nodded back.
"She used her method of poison and killed Eleanor Steele. She did that as a warning to him to not get in your way. How about Lord John Elliott? She made me kill him after he refused to follower her in killing Tyler Steele! Now she has gone after Lord Steele's second wife with poison and almost killed not only her but, their unborn child as well. Thankfully no harm has come to them, but it was a close call. What's more, the new Lady Steele is actually her granddaughter! She's targeting her because she believes that it was Angel's fault for her daughter's death."
Noah was stunned to hear that his wife of thirty years was capable of really committing those crimes. He couldn't believe that she would actually go after a woman who was pregnant.
"Is this why you have stopped doing her bidding?" Abe nodded. "Yes, I am done killing for her and I stop at the line at killing family! Especially when it comes to the lives of children. There is no reason why an innocent child has to die when she thinks that the mother killed her daughter. She even got my cousin involved with her plans. She had my idiot of a cousin, risk her employment by feeding her pregnant mistress poison. Mabel could've remained loyal, but she was stupid enough to listen to Irene, and allowed Irene's negative feelings for Lady Steele to fester in her heart! Now Mable has doomed herself, and she is now on the run from Scotland Yard."
"Are you willing to come with me to the Barn Wood mental hospital, and explain my reasoning to the doctor's there why I want to commit Irene? Now that I know what she has been up too, I can no longer allow her to roam free, and continue killing people." Abe agreed to go with Noah but wondered if they could stop at the Steele estate so that he could explain to Lord Steele who was really behind the killings and the attempted killings of his family members. He wanted to retire from being a hired assassin of a powerful family, as this was the only way he knew how it could be accomplished. Noah was proud of Abe's decision and agreed. He wanted to meet Lord and Lady Steele and personally apologize to his family, and to reassure them, that Irene will never harm another living soul again. With that, Noah tapped his cane against the carriage's roof and told his driver, to stop circling the street and to make his way to the Steele family estate.
