"Are you alright?" Jack asked, after he had reapplied the bandages.
"Yeah, I think I'll be okay." Alice replied.
"Here," he said, handing her a sandwich, "this will help get your energy back up."
Alice nodded and took the sandwich.
The Mad Hatter was off to the side, starting a fire.
"We will wait until you are healed to leave." Jack said.
"What!?" Alice exclaimed. "We can't wait that long! Why not until I feel better?"
"Nonsense. We wouldn't want your wound to reopen." Jack said.
"But then we won't make it to the top till like, a month!" Alice said.
"That's also nonsense, it'll just be a few days." He replied. Baffled that she thought it would take a month.
Alice facepalmed, "I didn't mean a literal month."
"Oh. Then why say a month?" he asked, confused.
"I don't know. It was just an exaggeration or something." she replied.
"Oh." Jack said.
Alice finished her sandwich and moved closer to the fire.
"Are you sure we can't just go now?" Alice complained.
"Yes." he said.
"Please. Can't we go now?" she begged.
He looked at her for a while.
"I really want to get back to my world." she said, and that wasn't a complete lie, she was getting tired of Wonderland.
Jack thought about it. "Fine, we will leave in an hour."
Alice smiled.
...
When the hour had passed, they began their journey again.
Alice used the side of the mountain as a crutch, hoping the Jack wouldn't notice.
Every hour the Jack would make them stop, and take a quick break.
Alice sighed every time they did. All she wanted was to get to the top of the mountain as quickly as possible.
"C'mon Jack! Do we really have to stop again? We're literally at the top!" Alice complained.
"Yes," Jack said, "Because this time, I have something really important to tell you. This wizard is the most powerful person I have ever met. So for this, we're going to have to pack all our weapons in a bag, to make us look nonthreatening."
He held out a bag.
Alice sighed and put in her weapons.
The Mad Hatter was hesitant.
"How do I know you're not just tricking us so you can push us off the mountain or something?" he asked.
"I give you my knights honour. I'm not lying." he said.
The Mad Hatter was still hesitant, but put his weapons in.
"Good, also, last thing. Let me do the talking please." he said.
"Fine." Alice agreed.
The Mad Hatter nodded his head.
And with that, they entered the cave of the wizard.
