"I mush warn you, I have no idea what beasts we will face on our travels." Jack said as they made their journey to the mountains.
"No problems here." Alice said, pointing with her hand to her various weapons.
"Those won't help if we come across what I think we may come across." Jack gulped.
"And what might that be?" Alice asked.
"A jabberwocky." he said quietly, as if saying its name out loud might summon it.
"I highly doubt that we'll see one." Alice rolled her eyes.
"You never know." Jack said.
Alice sighed and grabbed his arm. "C'mon."
They made it to the foot of the mountain by nightfall.
"We shall sleep here for the night!" Jack said.
Alice, grateful for the stop as she had been walking all day, sat down.
"You sir," Jack pointed to The Mad Hatter, "would you be so kind as to help me with the tent?"
The Mad Hatter stared at him for a while before saying: "sure."
"And you ma'am, would you set up a fire as to keep the wolf-lions away."
Alice shrugged and started making a fire.
About ten minutes later, their camp was set up.
They sat around the fire Alice had made.
"My dear, how ever did you learn to make a fire like such?" Jack asked.
Alice shrugged and said, "My Dad taught me. He taught me loads of stuff like this."
"Like how to use those swords?" he asked.
Alice nodded.
"He must be an extraordinary man!" he cheered.
Alice's stomach rumbled. All she had eaten today was the food The Mad Hatter had brought. Which wasn't much but tea, scones, and crumpets.
"My dear! I have forgotten! We need to eat before we rest." Jack said, pulling food out of his backpack.
Inside, he had tons of water bottles, meat, pots, spare clothing, and so much more.
"When did you have time to pack those?" Alice said, amazed.
"A club is always prepared." he said. "Or else."
"Or else The Red Queen will have your head?" Alice said, semi-jokingly.
The Jack of clubs didn't get the joke.
"Yes." he said slowly and confused.
"Nevermind." Alice said. "Let's cook!"
They all took a cooking stick and a hunk of meat, and began to cook.
"Ah, that was good." Alice said, leaning back to look at the sky.
"Indeed. Now, let us retire so we may be at full strength for our journey in the morning." Jack said.
"Fine, fine." she said.
The three of them all rose and went to bed.
"Here is your quarters, ma'am." Jack said, showing Alice her spot in the tent.
"Thanks. And, don't call me ma'am." she said.
"Oh, but I must!" Jack insisted.
"Seriously, don't. Its weird." Alice said.
The Jack looked to the floor, "As you wish, ma- I mean.... What should I call you then?"
"Just call me Alice." she replied.
"Okay, Alice." he said, looking back up to her.
Then, he showed The Mad Hatter where he would sleep, and went to his own bed.
...
They awoke in the morning to a noise.
"What was that?" Alice asked.
"I don't know!" The Mad Hatter and The Jack said at the same time.
Alice grabbed one of her swords and exited the tent.
"Alice! You mustn't!" The Jack said, grabbing her sleeve.
"Let go of me!" she said, shaking away.
Alice left the tent, sword in hand.
Outside the tent, she saw a wolf-lion. Its body and tail were as a wolf, while it's face and paws were as a lion.
Alice panicked for a second, but gathered her nerves.
She gripped her sword, and swung toward it's head, it jumped away and growled.
Alice swung again, but this time it scratched her body, blood came seeping out.
Alice let out a small shriek that caused The Jack of clubs to come out of the tent.
"My lady! Are you alright?" he asked.
"Get back in the tent!" Alice said.
"I mustn't! You're injured." he said.
"Shut up and get back in the te-" the wolf-lion attacked her once again, this time it attacked her face. Her cheek was now bleeding.
"You're hurt!" He repeated.
"Yeah, and I wouldn't be if you would just get in the tent!" she shouted
He went back into the tent.
"Is she alright?" The Mad Hatter asked.
"No, she is greatly injured." the Jack replied.
"We have to help her!" The Mad Hatter said, he started to stand.
"No! She does not wish to have our help." he said.
Alice, now also had a bite wound on her leg, but she had also managed to wound the wolf-lion.
The Mad Hatter stood, "I have to help!"
He left the tent and pulled out a weapon, that was a mix between a sword and a chainsaw.
He ran up to the wolf-lion and cut one of its legs off.
"Woah, what's that thing?" Alice asked, slicing at the now very wounded wolf-lion, she managed to hit its chest.
"It's exactly what it looks like. A chainsaw sword. I haven't come up with a name for it yet." he replied.
"Cool." she said.
Then, she slit its throat.
"Nice job." Alice said, holding up her hand for a high-five.
The Mad Hatter high-fived her, and then she passed out.
